One of the biggest benefits of having my shop at home is that I can get my kids to help.

Here my daughter Leila helped me glue up this oak table top.

You can also see a preview of the table frame.

This project will be finished soon!

Meet my hammer! A few years back I got into blacksmithing, like really into it!

Not only did I make my own forge (off of you tube videos) but I also made a sudo anvil, my own tongues, and a few other tools.

This was my second attempt at a hammer and it’s actually really useful in the shop, I mean the head part is, haven’t figured out what to use the spike for in wood working yet, lol.

Someday I hope to incorporate some of that blacksmith knowledge into my furniture!

New projects getting started!

Finally starting our own dining table project (walnut) after telling .bri I would do it for like the past 5 years!

Also in the works is an all oak dinette table!

Cutting into rough lengths before moving into shop for easier handling.

Also, still have my account name as RWT Design - throwback to like 8 years ago! Someday I will get around to changing it!

Another throwback project: I made this porch swing quite a few years ago for some awesome customers!

The main frame is steel, the slats for the seat and back are new white oak but the armrests and trim are old reclaimed white oak.

Instead of using chain like traditional swings we used cable for a more clean look.

We did the upholstered cushions as well!

Really fun project. Maybe someone out there wants me to build another??

Another throwback to one of the first custom projects I built!

This family needed a special sized table to fit this breakfast nook (that they also eat dinner at!).

Project Complete!
This was a fun commission by an awesome couple. They had a table that when put outside the top literally fell apart. The base was fine so instead of tossing it they asked me to build a new top. This top was to be tiled and needed to hold up to the elements. So I did some research and asked a few questions and this is the end result.

I used marine grade plywood for the base, backer board under the tile, gorilla adhesive for the tile, white oak + exterior stain/sealer for the trim.

Turns out that this couple has been holding on to these tiles for like 8 years trying to figure out what to do with them.

I think it turned out pretty nice!

First glue-up in a while. Finally using some old walnut cut offs to make an end grain cutting board.

Project for the week: These shelves are built to hold records for a customer who has a pretty large collection.

I believe the plan is they are going to paint them all black!

Fun project!

Sometimes you have to tear something up before you can make it better!

Started work on modifying this old ice cream? Soda shop bar to make it work as a wine/cocktail bar. Keeping some of the old and adding some new!

Stay tuned to see how it turns out!

A little rain wasn’t gonna stop us today!

We started during the morning storms so we had to set up a tent to put our tools under.

Got a good days work done!

With all of the recent life changes my shop has also changed!

For the time being I am operating out of my basement.

There will for sure be some challenges with this setup, but there’s a lot of upside as well.

I hope to share more about the progress of my shop and how I will find ways to make it work as we go along.

Pictured here are a couple simple desk tops I’m working on for a client. Cherry ply with solid cherry edge banding.
