Karndean Koa is a WPC. Now what is that?

It’s the waterproof core. There are two cores: WPC (more $$) and SPC (less expensive $)

SPC (Stone Plastic Composite) and WPC (Wood Plastic Composite) are both premium types of rigid-core luxury vinyl flooring.

While BOTH materials are waterproof💧 at the surface level, they react differently to subfloor elements.

High subfloor moisture paired with a high pH (alkalinity) will actively break down SPC flooring if a proper moisture barrier is missing.

What you’re buying is a peace of mind. A luxurious color print and a durability to outlast SPC.

Long story short: don’t go for a cheaper alternative. The price difference isn’t significant enough to risk for the future.
