Heating your home in Southeast Alaska is expensive. The Prince of Wales Energy Reliability (POWER) Initiative wants to help change that. Spruce Root, Inc. is launching a new program to fund heat pump installations in Tribally owned homes and facilities on Prince of Wales Island.

If you're an Alaska Native or American Indian Tribal citizen who owns a home or facility on Prince of Wales, you may be eligible!

Visit spruceroot.org/power to sign up and email [email protected] with any questions.

Interested in installing a heat pump, but don’t think you qualify for POWER? Check out the ACES program offered by Alaska Heat Smart. Email [email protected] with questions.

We were honored to participate the Spruce Root workforce development workshop this week. As we often say in the trades, “You never stop learning. Tradesman/women must be life-long learners.”

We proved this to be true once again this week when Master Electrician Mike was asked to become Instructor Mike. Way to go rising to the occasion!

Attendees participated in a conduit bending contest, learned how to troubleshoot using a voltmeter, gained insight into the electrical career pathway, and more.

Shout out to Generations Southeast Community Learning Center for providing a great training space in Klawock!

It was -1 degrees this morning when our Juneau crews headed out the door to start serving our customers. Brrrr! We want to extend a big thank you to all of our electricians and apprentices for staying strong through these COLD temps! Thank you for helping keep the lights on and heaters running in Juneau.
