☀️ NORTH TEXAS HEAT = YOUR LAWN NEEDS WATER! 💧🌱
With temperatures hitting 100°F, we’re seeing lawns across North Texas starting to show heat and drought stress.
A few watering tips to help your lawn through the heat:
💧 Water deeply, not every day. Aim for roughly 1–1.5 inches of water per week, including rainfall.
🌅 Water early in the morning. Ideally before 10 AM. This reduces evaporation and gives the water time to soak into the soil.
⏱️ Use the cycle-and-soak method. Our North Texas clay soils can only absorb water so fast. Instead of running a zone for one long period, split it into 2–3 shorter cycles with time between them. This helps reduce runoff and gets more water into the root zone.
🥫 Not sure how much your sprinklers are putting down? Place a few tuna cans or similar containers around the lawn while your system runs. Measure the water afterward—you may be surprised how little (or how much) you’re actually applying.
🌱 Don’t wait until the lawn is completely stressed. Curling or folding grass blades, a dull gray/blue color, and footprints that stay visible are signs your lawn needs water.
🔥 100° days are tough on turf. A little attention to your watering now can make a BIG difference.
