Just a friendly reminder about the immense potential energy that commercial lawn mowers possess. I know it's just an aluminum skin and not particularly strong, but imagine if this was you, your kids, or your pet that got hit.
I was 75+ft away from my trailer with the chute down (property known to have debris, every precaution taken) when this happened. I didn't see what the projectile was and never found it; it ricocheted off the trailer to the other side of the train tracks over 100ft away. The grass wasn't overgrown and I'm always overly cautious on this property because of the constant debris. Whatever caused this was was small enough to not be seen in a normal weekly growth.
This post is to both educate why we shut down or abruptly turn the discharge away when we see people in the "danger zone," why we ask you to keep your kids and pets back or inside for the 15-20 minutes we're on your property, and to caution you to avoid coming too close while we're working because we can't always see everyone.
Safety for our customers, us, and anyone around is ALWAYS our first priority. Hopefully this post will help spread some awareness on how you can help us keep everyone safe.
