The paving business isn’t easy.

Every day, a lot of moving parts need to align to get the job done. The plant making the mix. The trucks hauling it. The machinery placing it. And most importantly, the people who make it all work.

When everything is moving the way it should, there’s a rhythm to a paving operation. Trucks cycle in and out, the paver keeps moving, rollers work behind it, and everyone has a job to do to keep the operation moving forward.

These photos capture a small piece of that process. Getting all those moving parts lined up day after day is what it takes to keep a paving operation running.

Before it became the New Lenox Village Commons, it looked like this.

In the winter of 2004 and throughout 2005, P.T. Ferro crews built the site that would become one of the most recognizable public spaces in New Lenox.

These photos show the Commons taking shape from the ground up. Earthwork, grading, concrete, pond construction, and the site infrastructure that tied it all together.

More than 20 years later, that work has become part of daily life in the Village. The Commons now hosts concerts, community events, farmers markets, holiday celebrations, and countless gatherings around Village Hall.

That is what makes projects like this worth looking back on.

We built the place.

New Lenox made it theirs.

A quarter century later, we remember the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We remember the courage and sacrifice that followed, and a country that refused to be broken.

Americans came together. We endured. We rebuilt. We moved forward.

Never forget.

More than 7,000 feet of new storm sewer is going into the ground throughout Lockport Township’s Fairmont neighborhood.

It is a major drainage improvement in an area that has dealt with problems for years, and our crews are now working through the later stages of the underground installation.

Once the sewer work is complete, we will turn our attention to putting the neighborhood back together, with pavement and parkway restoration following this fall.

There’s something different about paving roads that will eventually become home to a new community.

Our crews are in Shorewood working with our friends at , building the roads that will support their new development.

Good projects start with good partnerships. Developers bring the vision, contractors bring the people and equipment to build it, and together we turn open ground into places where people will live, raise families, and become part of the community.

We appreciate Lennar continuing to trust PT Ferro with the work.

Crews are continuing to make progress on the $5.2 million West River Road Reconstruction Project in Wilmington.

With the water main now complete, we're moving forward with storm sewer installation throughout the project.

Once the underground work is complete, crews will begin the full reconstruction of West River Road.

There is still plenty of work ahead, but the project is starting to take shape.

Aggregate checks to make sure our mix is running as designed. Concrete strength tests to verify what we place will stand the test of time. Auto extraction to monitor asphalt content in every load of HMA.
