Overholt Construction

Well the "bad guys" are at it again. About 2.5 years ago (see post from Dec 2023), someone got ahold of our mailing address and used it to send out a bunch of mail with ph*ny checks (written from other company accounts) and other info in the envelope. Somehow someone has gotten ahold of one of our checks written to a supplier and "whitewashed" it (bank term).

If you have received a check from us recently and have not done business with us and are not expecting a check from us, please know that this is a fr*audulent check. Even if your bank will let you cash it or deposit it, our bank will refuse it and it will come back out of your account. If you receive one, please shred it and dispose of it.

It's a good example of if-it-sounds-too-good-to-be-true, it-probably-is. These sc*mmers are likely wanting you to send them some of the $. If you deposit this check and then send them $, you will be eventually be out that amount when the check written to you is returned by our bank.

We've had to implement further security measures with our bank and we can see each check that people attempt to cash/deposit, including the back with the signatures and bank that it is deposited to.

I applaud those who have called us to alert us to these checks arriving at their house. I wish there was an easy way to stop this but there is so much fr*aud info being used that it's hard to pinpoint.

(please forgive the asterisks. trying to avoid further unwanted "help")

The 2025 calendars are in, featuring photos from Iceland! This trip was a gift to me, celebrating 25 years of working at Overholt Construction. To say I am grateful for this gift is an understatement! I'm glad to share the beauty of Iceland with you in 2025.

If you are new to our page, and have found us by doing a search for us because you received an envelope similar to this via Priority Mail, please know that it was not us who mailed these out. We've now received 5 "returned" envelopes that (sc amm ers) have sent out using our return address on the envelope. Our information is not inside and so far I have found at least limited information online on the the companies listed on the checks. I'm guessing the (sc amm ers) also randomly pulled up some company names to use on fake checks. I have blurred out some of the information including the routing and account numbers, just in case they are legit but being scammed as well. One of these letters instructs you to deposit the check, and then buy gift cards and give the numbers to the (sc am me rs). The other simply tells you to call them with all of the check info, deposit it, and then call for further instructions. I called the number and without me saying much, they knew I had received a check. I gave them a bit of a hassle about using our information but they don't care. They just want your money. If you have vulnerable people in your life who may not be able to spot a scam, this is a good opportunity to be pro-active and educate them on what to do if they receive something from someone they don't know. Same goes for phone calls and pop-up messages for computer problems. Many (sc amm ers) use scare tactics and while this one doesn't, it is still likely to cheat at least a few people out of their own much-needed money. 😧

(edited to avoid even more unwelcome attention)

Surfside Kids Pediatric Dentistry in Brunswick was a project we completed the end of 2021. The artwork was installed some months later. If you are a kid and you need dental work, isn't this quite the place to come to? 😍 The detail and size of the art installation in the lobby is very impressive! Surfside Kids Pediatric Dentistry

Another project in Jesup we completed earlier this year was a new retail building for Harris Ace Hardware. There was a bit of maneuvering to get this all completed. The new building was built where the old parking lot had been, just feet from the old building. After the new building was completed and all things moved over, the old building was demo'ed for the new parking lot. We appreciate Harris ACE Hardware and Building Supply for choosing us for this construction project!

In 2012 we completed the first phase for Hospice of South Georgia. We recently completed the second phase which includes 8 rooms. There are beautiful indoor and outdoor spaces for people to use while they are there with their loved ones who are being cared for. Hospice of South Georgia, Inc-Jesup
