We've handled land clearing and grading as the first step on plenty of our own projects, and now we are offering it as it's own service.

That means taking a lot from overgrown to buildable. Brush and stumps out. Slope worked so water runs where it should. Pad set and compacted so whatever goes on top of it stays put.

Fill settles. Slopes shed water in ways you don't notice until it's running across your driveway. Getting the site right at the start saves real money later.

More people are putting the microwave in the island.

It clears the wall above the range, which opens that space up for a hood. And it puts the microwave at counter height instead of over your head, which matters more than you'd think when you're carrying something hot out of it.

Concrete is one of those things you should be able to pour and forget about.

That comes down to what happens before the truck shows up. Ground prepped and compacted so the slab has something solid under it. Expansion joints laid out where they belong, not wherever there's time to cut them. Foundations built to local code and to what North Georgia terrain actually does.

Do that part right and the driveway still looks good ten years out.

A walk-in shower is one of the easiest upgrades to say yes to when doing a bathroom renovation.

Curbless entry, so there's nothing to step over. A built-in bench. Tile that runs floor to ceiling and a glass panel instead of a door that swings into everything.

Most cracked walkways don't fail because of the concrete.

They fail because the expansion joints were wrong, or nobody put them in at all. Concrete moves. When there's nowhere for that movement to go, it finds its own place to give, and that's the crack running across your walkway or driveway.

Slope makes it worse. So does ground that was cut and filled years ago and never fully settled. Both are common on properties in this part of North Georgia.

Done right the first time, a walkway or driveway should still look good ten years out.
