Tuesday's topic: Control panels!
What is a control panel, you ask?

A control panel is basically a breaker box for a septic system with a few extra features. They are typically used to control sewer pumps. They will often have an alarm attached to them to indicate if a problem has developed.

If there is a problem, silence the alarm, stop using water, and check for tripped circuit breakers. Septic alarms typically provide a 24 to 48-hour buffer before a backup, but you should immediately halt laundry, showers, and dishwashing to avoid overloading the system and then give us a call at 910-333-8874 to come out and diagnose and repair or replace the problem!

Let's talk about grinder pumps!
A grinder pump collects household wastewater in a holding tank and acts like a powerful garbage disposal. When water reaches a specific level, metal blades shred solid waste into a fine slurry. The pump then forces this pressurized liquid through small pipes to your septic tank.
Slow Drains: Sinks and tubs draining much slower than usual. Gurgling Sounds: Unusual gurgling noises coming from your drains or pipes. Foul Odors: Sewage or rotten-egg smells near the pump basin or inside the home.Strange Noises: Loud grinding, clanging, or rattling sounds during the pump cycle. Spikes in Your Electric Bill: Indicates the pump's motor is wearing out or working much harder than it should.
Emergency indicators: The Alarm is tripped: If the control panel is emitting an audible buzzer or showing a red flashing light, the water level is too high, and the pump has failed or cannot keep up. Limit water use immediately!
