The equipment is parked.
The trailers are quiet.
The crew is home.

But the business owner is still working.

Twenty years in the Marine Corps taught me something that retirement didn’t erase:

The uniform may have changed.

🔥 SOME WEEKS EARN THE OVERTIME. THIS WAS ONE OF THEM. 🔥

This week, the crew at AJ’s Lawn & Pressure Washing Services LLC absolutely BUSTED BUTT.

💪 50 lawns serviced
🌱 A landscaping project knocked out
☀️ 103° temperatures with even higher heat indexes
🥵 Long days, heavy equipment, and a whole lot of sweat

And through it all—the crew KEPT MOVING.

We were hot. We were tired. We were drained. But when you put our logo on your shirt, there’s a standard that comes with it:

Show up. Work hard. Take pride in the details. Leave every property better than we found it.

Some people come into your life for a season, but the impact they leave behind lasts much longer.

When you find good people. People who work hard, bring a different perspective, and even help you recognize gaps in your own way of thinking it reminds you that growth goes both ways. Sometimes it all starts with an interview, and the rest becomes a story that unfolds along the way.

Having Tim Kelley on the AJ’s Lawns crew this season has truly been a blessing. From day one, Tim showed up ready to hit the ground running, and I mean RUNNING. NASCAR TIM! 😂 If you know, you know.

We all come from different walks of life. We all have our own stories, challenges, goals, and dreams. Sometimes all someone needs is an opportunity, a good team around them, and the chance to show what they’re capable of.

Tim did exactly that.

He worked hard this season, earned the respect of the crew, and earned the logo. Now he’s taking the next step toward his own dream, heading to school to pursue a career in auto body work.

The crew and I couldn’t be more proud of you, brother.

As a business owner, I’m also thankful for what Tim gave me beyond the work itself. Having good people around you gives you opportunities to listen, reflect, recognize where you can improve, and continue growing as a leader and as a person. Tim gave me some of those moments this season, and I’m grateful for them.

🔥 24 YARDS. 11 HOURS. ZERO EXCUSES. 🔥

It takes a special kind of crew to get it done in the Eastern Carolina heat.

Today we knocked out 24 properties in just under 11 hours—and that includes drive time.

What I’m most proud of isn’t the number of yards… it’s the attitude.

No complaining.
No cutting corners.
Just hard work, constant learning, and a commitment to doing every yard the right way.

Around here we pass knowledge to one another, hold each other accountable, and have a good time doing it. That’s what builds a strong team and that’s what our customers deserve every single visit.
