It is Fire Prevention Day, and the electrical side of prevention is mostly unglamorous habits. ⚡

Keep the working space in front of your panels clear. Write down every circuit that gets added. And let someone qualified look at the gear once a year, with a thermal camera and a written list at the end.

None of that is expensive. All of it shortens the list of things that can surprise you.

Electrical problems almost always announce themselves before they become expensive.

A cover plate that feels warm. A light that flickers when a compressor kicks on. A breaker that holds all week and trips every Saturday night. In a restaurant, a clinic, or a leasing office, those are small service calls today and a closed door later.

Replacing aging gear on an occupied building is mostly a planning problem. 🗓️

Swipe through how we run it: circuits mapped and verified before anything is opened, temporary power staged where it is needed, and the switch itself done in short windows at hours you pick, with notice residents or tenants actually receive.

Done that way, an upgrade that sounds disruptive turns into a couple of quiet mornings. That comes from years of doing this work on infrastructure and commercial sites where nothing is allowed to go down unannounced.

We are proud to share that PEC has been awarded the electrical scope for The Whitmore at Ingleside in North Charleston, South Carolina. ⚡

The Whitmore is a new Class A community developed by Thompson Thrift: 327 apartment homes, a resort style pool, a clubhouse and fitness center, pickleball, dog parks, and the site work that ties all of it together. Our team carries the electrical from the underground distribution and site power through the buildings to final trim.

Projects at this scale are won on coordination, and we are grateful to Thompson Thrift for bringing us in as part of the team.

Something one of our foremen says on site, and it has quietly become how we work. ⚡

Straight runs. Labeled panels. Terminations torqued and checked. Photos taken before the walls close. Not because an inspector is standing there, but because the person who opens that panel in five years should be able to read our work in a second.

It is the difference between passing an inspection and building something the next crew can trust.
