Hurricane season isn’t over and one of the most important pool-prep reminders is also one of the least obvious: do not drain your pool before a storm.

The water provides weight that helps protect the pool shell when the surrounding ground becomes saturated. An empty pool can shift, lift or crack from the pressure beneath it.

Remember the pool we flew into the courtyard of a 100+ year-old Riverside fourplex?

It's come a long way.

The pool is in. The pavers are going down. Tile work is underway. And you can finally start to see what this courtyard is going to become.

Still very much a work in progress.

But ohhhh, this one is going to be good.

Just wait until you see it finished.

Apparently, we have a type.

Meet Nick. And Nick. And Nic.

Nick M. - Owner extraordinaire, pool guy, and BBQ master. He builds pools for a living and competes over smoked meat for fun. Because apparently one obsession wasn't enough. And apparently the person responsible for starting what has become a statistically improbable concentration of Nicks.

Nick USA - The man, the myth, the legend. Excavator operator. Pool-flight director. Problem solver. If something needs to be done, there's a pretty good chance Nick can do it. And if you've ever watched one of our pools fly over a house, he's the guy on the ground making it look easy.

Nic B. - The man behind our South Florida operations. He's spent 20 years in the pool business, speaks four languages, and once owned a hotel in Haiti. When he's not building pools, his preferred combination seems to be beach + good scotch + cigar + tiny puppy. Nobody really know his whole story...and honestly, it's probably better that way.

Different jobs. Different personalities. Same name.

At this point, yelling “Hey, Nick!” on a Hydra job site is probably not particularly helpful. 😂
