Best time to paint in Florida? October through April.

Why? Because summer heat and afternoon storms create impossible conditions. Paint needs 4-6 hours of dry time before any moisture hits the surface. In July, we're dodging thunderstorms by 2pm.

Fall and winter bring stable temps, lower humidity, and predictable weather windows. That's when paint cures properly and bonds for the long term.

Backrolling isn't extra work. It's how paint actually bonds to textured surfaces.

After we spray each coat, we immediately backroll the wet paint with a thick nap roller. This pushes product deep into stucco pores, wood grain, and rough concrete block where spray alone sits on the surface.

The difference shows up in year three when backrolled surfaces still shed water and non-backrolled coatings start peeling at the high points.

Not all surfaces paint the same. Stucco needs elastomeric coatings that flex with temperature swings. Wood needs oil-based blockers that seal out Florida moisture. CMU block needs Loxon XP to fill pores and prevent water intrusion.

Skip the surface-specific prep, and you'll see failure in 12-18 months instead of years. We match the coating to the substrate because longevity isn't luck.

In northeast Florida, thermal expansion from heat cycles breaks down exterior caulk faster than most climates. When those seals crack or pull away, water finds its way behind painted surfaces during afternoon thunderstorms.

Walk your home's perimeter twice a year and look for gaps, cracks, or separation along trim joints, window frames, and door casings. If you can slide a business card into the gap, water can get in too.

Recaulking vulnerable joints before the rainy season is one of the simplest ways to prevent expensive paint and wood damage later.

Standard exterior paint soaks into porous CMU and stucco like water into a sponge. Within months, it fades, chalks, and peels because it never properly bonded.
