Reclaimed corral board on every wall in this room. Here’s what most people don’t know about it.

Corral board comes off actual livestock corrals — decades of sun, weather, and animals rubbing against it.

That’s why the gray reads different than barnwood gray. Barnwood sat under a roof. Corral board didn’t. It got beat on.

You can’t fake that with stain. We’ve watched people try.

Look through the middle of this one. That’s the Grand, framed by a covered walkway in Jackson, WY.

Timber does two things on a house like this. It holds the roof up, and it decides what you see. Those posts and the beam over your head aren’t just structure — they’re a frame around the best view on the property. Move them two feet either direction and you lose the mountain.
Kiln dried timber for the structure and hand-hewn log side for the aesthetic, against a black standing seam roof. Heavy knee braces carrying the overhang. Nothing here is trying to compete with what’s behind it.

That kind of framing gets decided early, on paper, long before anyone shows up with a crane. If you’re planning a build in the valley, save this and bring it up with your architect while the site plan is still moving.
