Had the privilege of working on this limited/prototype Ludwig 14”x8 Keystone Maple Snare Drum for Ryan McCauley. He loved the look, but not the sound or response of this drum. He wanted a cleaner, more focused sound with a thick backbeat for his studio work.

So he shipped the drum to us from Oregon, had everything trued-up and new bearing edges and snare beds designed and reshaped to achieve the sound and response he was after. The unique glass glitter wrap material had also blistered in one section, so that was remedied to prevent any further deterioration.

Thanks so much for your trust and support, Ryan, and enjoy playing your newly modified snare drum!

Shout out to Steve Boyle for choosing VIRTUE! He had us swap out and tune up all the drumheads on his Pearl drum set to greatly improve their sound, just in time for his gig! He chose Evans HD Dry over G1 Clears for the toms, Power Center Reverse Dot over Snare Side 300 on the snare drum, and an EMAD2 paired with EMAD Reso on the bass drum.

Thanks so much for your support, Steve, and enjoy playing your kit!

Want a classic vintage vibe with modern electronic convenience? Then check this out!

This drum set was custom made by a local drummer that wanted the looks of a 60’s Ludwig keystone badge kit in ultra-classy Sky Blue Pearl, but with top-of-the-line electronics, including Jobeky multi-sensor triggers, triple-ply mesh heads, and bronze cymbals, all paired with the very capable Roland TD-25 V-Drums module.

Look and sound great, but with the convenience of a volume k**b and a plentiful variety of sounds at your fingertips! Available now for just $1,750! Hardware is available separately.

Visit the shop to check out this awesome set in-person!

Open Hours:
Thursday 11am-5:30pm
Friday 11am-5:30pm
Saturday 11am-4pm

Or also available by appointment.

Honored to help repair this DW Edge Snare Drum for the inimitable Pete Siers of Ann Arbor. He brought it in because he noticed the outer veneer was lifting at the seam. Upon further inspection we found several other areas of shell delaminating that needed to be addressed.

The outer ply was proud of the rest of the shell, which was causing it to slowly pull itself apart once the metal edges were in place and tension was added, so after properly gluing everything back together the rabbet joint was trued up to prevent this sort of delamination in the future.

Thanks so much for your continued support, Pete, and enjoy continuing to make great music with it for many years to come!
