Good example of an interior branch that has developed a sprout growing straight up into other limbs and creating a rubbing point.

We generally want to remove these and it's best when they're small.

Fruitless mulberry (Moris alba) has a very thin bark and is prone to peeling/tearing out, so be prepared to do what's necessary to get a clean finish cut.

Let's talk soil, roots, and tree health.

-Most tree roots are within the first 18" of soil.

-They typically extend out to 1.5 -3x the width of the canopy.

Bad Soil Health -> Bad Root Health
Bad Root Health -> Bad Tree Health

The main issue we see daily is not a lack of nutrients, it's compacted soil.

Heavy vehicles, construction, foot traffic, and the yearly removal of all organic materials (i.e. leaves) leads to a soil that is compressed and very unfriendly to tree roots.

Respecting the the size and vulnerableness of your trees' root system can prevent long term issues before they start.

Avoid building sitting areas, patios, etc within the tree's canopy. If you must, there are tree friendly construction techniques available to allow you to enjoy that shade without hurting the tree.

Consider proper organic mulching as a way to aerate the soil, protect the roots, and add nutrients back into the soil.

Give us a call at (817)781-0481 for recommendations!

Respect your trees' roots, and they'll be with you for a long time.
