This summer, Forte had the opportunity to work alongside students participating in the Salvadori Center’s STEAM Innovators program as they developed ideas to redesign the community room at the NYCHA Roosevelt Houses in Brooklyn.

Throughout the program, Forte team members worked with the students at different stages of their project—from reviewing their 2D designs and providing feedback, to welcoming them to our Islandia headquarters for a behind-the-scenes look at the many roles that keep a construction company moving. Students met with team members from across Forte, learning about both the project and business sides of construction and how different roles work together every day.

During their visit, we also gave the students backpacks filled with school supplies that our summer interns assembled during Intern Day, bringing another ForteCares initiative full circle.

Forte team members later joined the students at the Roosevelt Houses for their final presentations, where they shared the projects and ideas they developed throughout the program.

We’re proud to support opportunities that allow students to learn directly from industry professionals, explore the many different careers within construction, and put their own ideas into action.

Three new elevators are now in service at Kings Highway Station, making the F-line station fully accessible for the first time. EL 795 connects the street to the mezzanine, while EL 796 and EL 797 provide access to the northbound and southbound platforms.

As a key subcontractor to the Package 3 Design-Build Team led by Halmar International, Forte worked alongside the MTA, Lead Designer Dewberry Engineers, and project partners to complete upgrades throughout the station. Work included a reconstructed control area with a new full-time agent booth, new fare-control equipment, extended platform canopies, accessible boarding areas, sidewalk and street-lighting improvements, and upgraded station systems.

Kings Highway is the fifth and final station included in Forte’s Package 3 scope. The completed station provides the surrounding community with elevator access closer to home and a new accessible connection to the F line.

Forte Construction was proud to host our annual Forte/MTA Intern Day alongside MTA Construction & Development, bringing together interns from both organizations for a unique opportunity to learn, network, and experience an active transit construction project firsthand.

Throughout the day, interns heard from leaders across safety, quality, project management, and executive leadership, who shared insights into their roles, career journeys, and the collaboration required to deliver complex infrastructure projects that keep New York moving. The group then toured the station and gained a firsthand look at the renewal work currently underway at Jamaica-179 St Station.

For interns whose day-to-day experience is primarily office based, the site visit offered valuable perspective by connecting the work they perform behind the scenes to the activity taking place in the field. Seeing construction operations up close helped reinforce how every role contributes to the successful delivery of a project.

Events like these provide meaningful opportunities for emerging professionals to build connections, ask questions, and better understand the many career paths available within our industry. The event brought together interns from both Forte and MTA Construction & Development for a day of learning, discussion, and real-world project exposure.

Thank you to everyone from Forte and MTA C&D who took the time to share their knowledge, experience, and enthusiasm with the next generation of industry leaders. Together, we are helping build both critical infrastructure and the future workforce that will carry it forward.

New connections, friendly competition and plenty of fun—that’s how we celebrated Intern Day at Forte!

Our interns gathered at headquarters to get to know one another and connect with employees from across the company, exchanging stories, advice and insight into different career paths.

They also reflected on the most rewarding parts of their internships, the lessons that changed how they think about their futures and the advice they would share with next year’s interns.

A scavenger hunt, team activities and a competitive round of Kahoot kept everyone moving, collaborating and laughing along the way. Thank you to everyone who made it such a memorable event!
