Setting new trees up for success! 🌳
In windy locations, or when a tree’s size or root stability requires extra support, temporary staking can help keep the root ball stable while the tree becomes established. Proper staking should allow for some natural movement and sway in the wind, which helps encourage stronger trunk and root development. In most cases, stakes should be removed after the first growing season so the tree can continue building strength naturally.
We also install trunk protection to help prevent damage from lawn equipment, wildlife, and other environmental stressors. Adding a mulch ring helps retain soil moisture, regulate soil temperature, reduce w**d competition, and protect the trunk from mower and string trimmer damage.
