This is where planning met preparation and hard work. The client had a vision and Flume Valley made it a reality.

It started with building the blinds and getting them hauled to the site and placed in a strategic location.

Next we cleared the food plots of trees, stumps, roots, and rocks. The remnants were then utilized to create visual barriers for access and egress to the blind.

Lastly, we fertilized, tilled, and planted the food plots in clover before the weekend rain. Late summer is the best time to plant your clover plots for a couple of reasons. As the temperature drops the soil will hold moisture longer. There is also less w**d competition later in the growing season.

As hunting season draws nearer this is your reminder that we won't ruin your hunt. This buck was inspecting our work shortly after we came through with the forestry mulcher.

This trail system needed a touch up after some storms and we also created a couple new ones.

A beautiful field of oats is not something you typically find in Vilas county. But the time has come to terminate this plot before the seed becomes viable.

This is our 4th year managing this farm and we've gradually dialed in the soil fertility. Zero fertilizer was applied at the time of planting this spring.

The oats served 3 purposes which were to keep the w**ds at bay this spring/summer, build up the sandy soil with organic matter, and of course feed the deer.

Next step is to plant brassicas to keep feeding the deer this fall and winter. 🦌 🍂

Most days we're working alone deep in the woods but today was a pleasant change. Crossed paths with our friends at Michael Meister Logging as they were wrapping up a couple projects outside of Stevens Point.

The Meister's are a wonderful father and son team who take land stewardship as seriously as we do 🌎 🌳 They take pride in their work as well as their Ponsse equipment. It's always a enjoyable to collaborate with them on projects!

Not only do we work together in the woods, but Flume Valley is also a proud sponsor of Michael's Pro Buggy in the Amsoil Championship Offroad series. Wishing him luck this weekend in Crandon after he swept the last weekend series in Antigo 💪
