Twenty-eight years ago, this guy showed up at what would become McDonald Remodeling.

What started as a young guy learning the remodeling business turned into 28 years of building relationships, improving how we do things and setting a pretty high bar for the work that leaves our name on it.

Along the way, there have been a LOT of kitchens, basements and whole-home remodels. Plenty of jobsite problem-solving. Trade partner relationships that now span decades. And more than a few lessons learned the hard way.

Today, Chris is our CEO, but he’s still paying attention to the same things: good people, smart processes, quality work and doing right by our homeowners.

Nearly three decades later, we’re pretty glad this young guy stuck around.

Happy anniversary, Chris! πŸŽ‰

We had a great time exploring the latest features, finishes and styles at ALL, Inc. 's Open House yesterday.

From matte induction tops and other fun new finishes to three new Cambria options that lean into warm, inviting tones, there was plenty to discover. We also loved running into our always-helpful friends at Roth Living, Admit One Home Systems, Dakota County Lumber Co. and more.

We’re grateful for incredible partners like All, Inc who create opportunities for all of us in the industry to connect, discover what’s new and share ideas. Thanks for a great afternoon!

Collaboration matters. Ideas get better, challenges get solved and the finished project benefits when everyone shares the same high standards.

But don’t take our word for it. We’ll let our homeowners tell you. πŸŽ₯

We always love a visit from Kristine Poage, our amazing rep at Innovative Surfaces.

Did Maverick steal the show? Absolutely. 🐾 But we still managed to squeeze in updates on the latest industry news, trends, materials and more. And the fact that Kristine brought lunch? Even better. πŸ˜‰

Thanks for stopping by, Kristine! Great trade partners are a big part of what we do, and we’re grateful for the relationships that help us stay informed and deliver our best work.

To the woman who always has a twinkle in her eye, happy birthday! ✨

Whether she’s talking design, sharing a story or keeping the rest of us on our toes, Amy brings plenty of personality, experience and a sharp eye for function and flow to the McDonald Remodeling team. As Amy puts it, her goal isn’t to create a space everyone adores. It’s to create a space her clients adore.

We hope your day comes with lots of laughs, a little mischief and plenty to celebrate. Happy Birthday, Amy! πŸŽ‚πŸ₯³

Mood board moment too good not to share! Many homeowners are surprised to learn that we have an entire design studio here in our office which makes the selections process a breeze.

Our clients visited earlier this week to meet with our interior design team on selections for their upcoming kitchen and main floor remodel project and we couldn’t resist snapping a photo! It’s shaping up to be the perfect balance of bold + neutrals and we can’t wait to see it come to life!

Green has range. 🌿

Houzz recently featured our Bloomington remodel in a roundup of four welcoming green, white and wood kitchens, and we can see why this combination continues to resonate.

For this 1942 home, deep olive cabinetry and warm white oak helped turn a cramped kitchen into an open, sophisticated space for cooking, gathering and enjoying the Minnesota River Valley views.

And it’s not the only time we’ve gone green. Swipe through to see the Houzz-featured project and a few more McDonald Remodeling kitchens that found their own way to bring this versatile color home.

Anyone else ready for fall and all that comes with it? Cozy sweaters, chai lattes, fall colors?πŸ‚πŸ₯§

Until them, this bathroom will have to fill our fall vibe bucket with its deep green, brushed gold accents, and rich wood tones. Warm, moody, and just the right amount of cozy.
