A basketball court in a dental office? 🏀 Absolutely!

Tooth Haven Pediatric Dentistry is a great example of how a little creativity can make a big difference in the patient experience.

Last week, we welcomed our team, families, friends, and community to celebrate 60 years of Downing Construction.

It was a great afternoon honoring Bob and Ardene Downing and celebrating what they started 60 years ago, alongside so many of the people who have helped make Downing what it is today.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped make the afternoon so special! And a special thank you to Winn & Sara’s Kitchen, Blush & Bloom, and Ryan Damman Photography for helping us make the celebration one to remember.

Trading drawings for masonry tools! 🧱

Members of our architecture team spent a morning at Marshalltown Tools getting hands-on with setting masonry units, tooling and pointing joints, and learning about masonry products. A factory tour rounded out the continuing education session with a look at how the tools are made.

Thanks to Masonry Institute of Iowa, Marshalltown Tools, Brickworks, and others for an opportunity to learn by doing!

The best way to understand what goes into a dental project? Get out in the field and see it firsthand.

We recently brought members of our design and construction teams together with KCL Engineering for a rough-in walkthrough focused on the systems, details, and coordination unique to dental construction. Thanks Nick & Jake for helping coordinate this opportunity to ask questions, learn from each other, and give more of our team firsthand exposure to this specialized work.

The more knowledge we can build and share across our team, the better we can serve our dental clients.

Yesterday was all about connection, conversation, and women supporting women.

Several members of our team attended Taking Up Space, an event centered around real conversations about careers, leadership, challenges, and growth.

We loved the opportunity to hear different perspectives, make new connections, and spend time alongside so many incredible women from across Iowa.

Sixty years of Downing Construction started with Bob & Ardene Downing and a commitment to the Indianola community.

A lot has changed since 1966. The work we do looks different, our team has grown, and Downing has continued to evolve through three generations of leadership. But the foundation Bob & Ardene created is still very much a part of who we are today.

As we celebrate 60 years, we’re proud to look back at where Downing started, how far we’ve come, and the community that has been part of the story along the way.

Thank you to the Indianola Independent Advocate and the Indianola Chamber of Commerce for helping us share more about Downing’s history and the people and community who have shaped it along the way.

In 1966, Bob Downing decided that someone needed to build more homes in Indianola. So he formed Downing Construction and started building them.
