At NEON we have pushed ourselves outside our comfort zone on construction projects over the past year. As both an architecture and construction firm, we are constantly challenging ourselves with new products and new methods of construction.

With this comes design challenges, budget challenges, trade challenges, and timeline challenges — but when the projects start to take shape, it makes the hard work and struggles all worth it.

Eídín House -

A home situated on two acres in the city, Eídín House draws its inspiration from its natural surroundings and its lines from Mid-Century Modern Architecture.

A low-slung ranch characterized by a dramatic asymmetrical hipped roof, Eídín House connects indoor and outdoor spaces at every turn. A central courtyard space divides the public and private spaces of the home and, combined with subtle ins and outs in plan, further weaves the interior spaces with the surrounding landscape.

Constructed with insulated concrete forms and integrating radiant floor heating via geothermal, this house will be a testament to durability, longevity, sustainability, and comfort.

Eídín House is currently under construction and will be completed late winter 2023. Stay tuned for more updates.

NEON’s first self-initiated development project, Beville Greens, focuses heavily on an efficient and creative use of interior space. This efficiency affords the opportunity for higher quality materials and energy efficiencies.

Here, you see the main level, comprised of the main living spaces within each home. This level is bright and open, with built-in’s to minimize furniture needs, focusing on keeping a clean and intentional space.

The kitchen features a pull-out dining table to allow for flexibility while still accommodating more formal, sit-down dinners.

At NEON, we pride ourselves on intentional space and square footage, and Beville Greens demonstrates this best.

This project has been a long time in the making and we are excited to announcement our website is now live. Please follow the link in our bio to check it out!

This project is near and dear to NEON’s heart and represents a very important step forward in thinking about and questioning the way we redevelop neighborhoods. Beville Greens represents our first project that addresses increased density, increased green space, and increased access to housing, all while being community focused.

We are developing this project because we believe Indianapolis needs more innovative housing ideas and solutions and we are excited to help contribute to that conversation.

Introducing Sugarfield, one of NEON’s newest house projects.

Sugarfield is situated within the rural Indiana agricultural landscape - with its indoor-outdoor relationship central to the design. Here you see a back slice of the roofline, with a focus on the covered outdoor space, interior living space and the landscape beyond.

We can’t wait to share more details on this design, the design process with our clients, and can’t wait to see this home come to life early next year!

Design Challenge: To reimagine an outdated, dark 1-bedroom condo in a 1960s era 2-story building with distant views of the beach.

Design Solution: Inverting the existing plan relationships, resulting in a 2-bedroom space with living spaces now accessible to the balcony and distant beach views. The new design capitalizes on spatial efficiencies and built-in components to live much larger than the 640 sf it is.

It’s been 7 years since NEON Architecture began and we recently took this team photo to capture our growing group. Standing back and looking at this photo reminded us to take a moment to reflect and to celebrate the team, our growth, and the excitement for what’s in store next.

We began as strictly an architecture firm but have always been heavily involved in the construction process. Within the past 3 years, we realized the need to be even more involved in the construction process and added construction to the team. As a result, we’ve built a diverse team made up of a diverse set of backgrounds and we couldn’t be more excited.

A sincere thank you to all our clients, our partners, our subcontractors, and all of our supporters. We couldn’t have done it without you and are excited to share more of our work and continue to pursue our mission.

It’s rare to find a 1-acre wooded parcel in the city. When you do, you take care and attention to acknowledge, embrace, and celebrate this reality. This new house is about celebrating living in the trees, about working with the landscape, and about creating a truly unique living experience. We can’t wait to bring this one to life.

Work doesn’t take us places very often, but when it does, the beach doesn’t hurt. It definitely helps decompress from the anxiety of flying for the first time in a year.
