What Mice Are Really After in Your House

What are mice actually looking for when they get into a house? Knowing the answer is the first step to keeping them out.

They want three things. The warmth of your home, food, and sometimes water, which can come from something as small as a leaky pipe.

To reach it, they barely need an opening at all, just something about the size of a pinky finger. That gap could be under your garage door, in a vent, or through your dryer vent, and there are more spots like that than most homeowners ever check.

The real solution is not dealing with mice after they are already inside. It is exclusion, walking your entire property and sealing every gap you find before they ever get the chance to use it. Follow the page for more pest tips.

Does Store Bought Bug Spray Actually Work

Does store bought bug spray actually work on mosquitoes? Think about the last time you sprayed yourself before sitting around a campfire. You probably still got eaten alive.

That is because bug spray is a very temporary fix, if it is a fix at all. It wears off fast and does nothing about the mosquitoes waiting for you the moment it does.

The real solution has two parts. First, make your property less inviting to mosquitoes in the first place, which means dealing with standing water and the areas where they breed and hide. Second, do it properly with a professional treatment instead of relying on a can from the store.

Spray gets you through one evening. A real treatment actually solves the problem. Follow the page for more pest tips.

Do Ultrasonic Repellers Actually Get Rid of Roaches

Those ultrasonic repellers that plug into your outlet? You think that is what keeps your bugs away?

Try telling that to a cockroach. It just does not work. A small plastic gadget humming in the corner does not do anything to a real infestation.

Here is what actually solves the problem. Hire a professional to remediate it the right way. And if you have cockroaches, clean up your kitchen and clear out the clutter around your house too, since that removes the food and shelter that are drawing them in.

That combination is how cockroaches actually get handled, not an ultrasonic plug in from Amazon. Follow the page for more pest tips.

Can You Catch Termites Before They Damage Your Home

Can you catch termites early? Usually not the way people hope. By the time termite activity is visible, they have often already chewed through wood and started on drywall.

Here is what you actually can do. Termites live in the ground and travel toward your house searching for cellulose, which is what wood and cardboard are made of, including piles of Amazon boxes near your home. Bait stations placed around your property intercept them before they ever reach your foundation.

It is not a large expense, and it can save you thousands compared to remodeling to repair structural damage later on.

One thing worth watching for each spring is swarmers, flying termites that may show up on your property heading toward the house. That is a sign worth acting on right away.

Are Our Pest Control Products Safe for Kids and Pets

Are our products safe around your kids and pets? Absolutely, and here is exactly why.

Nobody should be drinking the products we use, obviously, but they are built to be very safe when you follow the label, which is exactly how we apply every treatment.

The one thing to know is drying time. Let the treated area dry before anyone re enters, usually around 20 minutes, sometimes closer to half an hour. Just avoid touching it while it is still wet. Once it is dry, it is totally safe.

Everything we use is EPA registered and has been extensively tested. So when we treat your home, you can count on it being safe for your kids and your pets.

What Rodents Leave Behind In Your Attic Is A Health Hazard.

There is a reason our techs suit up like this before going into an attic. What rodents leave behind up there is a genuine health hazard.

When mice or rats get into an attic, they do not just pass through. They nest in the insulation and leave droppings and urine across the entire space, often for months before anyone notices.

Here is why that matters more than most people realize.

Is it actually dangerous? Yes. Rodent droppings and urine can carry bacteria and viruses, and they trigger allergies and asthma. The real risk comes when that contaminated insulation gets disturbed and particles go airborne. That is exactly why you see the full suits and respirators. This is not a job to tackle in a t shirt with a shop vac.

What does it do to your home? Beyond the health side, contaminated insulation holds a lingering odor that pulls in more pests, and soiled insulation stops doing its job, so you feel it in your comfort and your energy bills.

What do we actually do? We remove and vacuum out all the contaminated insulation, haul it away, then decontaminate and sanitize the entire attic. We also track down how the rodents got in and help seal those entry points so it does not happen all over again.

The result is an attic that is clean, safe, odor free, and sealed up right. Locally and family owned, never private equity, EPA approved products that are safe for your family and pets when applied per label, the same trained uniformed techs every visit, and we always close the gate behind us.

Hearing scratching above the ceiling, or noticing a musty smell you cannot place? Let us take a look before it gets worse.

Where Roach Traps Actually Catch Something

Your sticky trap is probably in the wrong spot, and that is why it never catches anything.

Roaches do not walk across the middle of the floor. They run along edges and stay close to water and warmth. So the traps have to go where they actually travel.

First, place your traps flat against the baseboards and in the corners, since that is the path roaches follow around a room.

Second, add traps under the sink and behind your appliances, where it is dark, warm, and near a water source.

Third, check them after a few days to see where the activity is heaviest, then focus your traps and treatment in those areas.

It is not about how many traps you set, it is about placement. Put them on the roach highways instead of out in the open. For a heavier problem, that is when to call a pro. Follow the page for more pest tips.

The Step That Makes an Attic Safe Again After Rodents

Here is the step that actually makes an attic safe again after a rodent problem, and most people never think about it.

We already pulled the insulation out of this attic because it was filled with rodent f***s. But removing it is only half the job. The framing and surfaces left behind still carry contamination, and there is no way to wipe all of that down by hand.

So we bring in a fogger loaded with a sanitizer and fog the entire space. The fog settles into the corners, cracks, and framing that hand cleaning could never reach, which is exactly where the contamination hides.

That is what turns a contaminated attic back into a safe one. Remove everything the rodents touched, then sanitize what remains. This is why a serious infestation is a job for a professional, not a shop vac and a mask. Follow the page for more pest tips.

Here Is What Safe Hornet Nest Removal Actually Takes.

Full bee suit. Extension ladder. A careful plan before anyone gets close. This is what safe bald faced hornet removal actually looks like, and it is exactly why you should never try it yourself.

Every summer people grab a store can and a ladder and go after one of these. It goes wrong more often than you would think.

Here is why these nests are so dangerous.

Bald faced hornets are not a bee you can reason with. They are a large, aggressive yellowjacket, and they defend their nest hard. Come within a few feet and they swarm. They can sting again and again, and a mature nest holds several hundred of them.

A store can only reaches the outer paper shell. It rarely kills the colony inside, and the ones that pour out are fast, furious, and heading straight for whoever is holding the can. Now picture that happening while you are standing on a ladder. Every year people get seriously hurt this way, and the falls are often worse than the stings.

That is why our techs suit up, work from a stable ladder, treat the colony at the source, and remove the nest so nothing rebuilds in the same spot. Right now is peak season, when these nests are at their biggest and most defensive, so this is the time to deal with it.

Spotted a nest on your property, or not even sure what you are looking at? Do not get close. Let us handle it.

How to Seal the Gaps Letting Mice In Yourself

Spotted a gap that is letting mice into your house? For small openings, you can handle it yourself in about five minutes without calling anyone.

Here is how.

First, pack steel wool tightly into the gap. This is the part that matters, because mice cannot chew through steel wool the way they chew through foam or caulk on its own. That is what makes the seal hold up.

Second, seal over the steel wool with caulk to lock it in place and finish it off cleanly.

Third, check the area again in a few weeks to make sure it held and nothing has worked loose.

Steel wool to block them, caulk to hold it, then a quick recheck later. Do this on every small gap you find and you close off a lot of the ways mice sneak in. For bigger openings, that is when it is worth calling a pro. Follow the page for more pest tips.
