You found the leak AFTER the musty smell started — now what?

SAVE this 48-hour check from Brickyard Houses & Home Solutions in Indiana:

1. STOP THE WATER FIRST — Fix the leak or shut it off. No drying works until the source is stopped.
2. DRY IT IN 24-48 HOURS — EPA: if wet materials are dried 24-48 hours after a leak, in most cases mold will not grow. Fans, dehumidifier.
3. PULL WET STUFF UP — Lift rugs, move furniture off wet floors. Absorbent materials that stay wet may need replacement.
4. KEEP HUMIDITY LOW — Below 60%, ideally 30-50%. Run exhaust fans, use a humidity meter.
5. DON'T JUST PAINT OVER IT — Paint hides the stain, not the moisture.

Big area, contaminated water, mold in HVAC, or a leak hiding in a wall? That's a call-a-pro job.

Your front step is only 4 inches high - so why does getting in feel like climbing a mountain?

SAVE this front door check from Brickyard Houses & Home Solutions, CAPS-certified Indiana contractor since 2012:

1. SLOPE 1:12 - 12 inches of ramp for every 1 inch of rise. That 4 inch step needs 48 inches of run.
2. 32 INCHES CLEAR - doorway opening minimum; a 36 inch door gets you there.
3. LOW THRESHOLD - 1/2 inch or less, beveled. That lip trips more people than the step.
4. RAILS OVER 6 INCHES - handrails both sides, plus a level landing at the door.
5. WIDTH, LIGHT, GRIP - 36 inches wide, bright light, slip-resistant surface.

Done right, a no-step entry just looks like a well-built front door - for wheelchairs, walkers, strollers and tired knees.
