At ONE10 Studio, we believe architecture is a highly intentional skill and an absolute necessity for protecting your investment and well-being. Success in architecture isn’t just a beautiful portfolio piece, it’s when your clients care as much as you do.

For us as architects, the stakes are deeply personal. When we design a single-family custom home, we are dealing with someone’s daily life and refuge. We can’t afford to mess up the details. Our true job is to connect people with the place, the site, and the context surrounding it. If we aren’t building genuine relationships and taking that responsibility seriously, we are doing a disservice to the profession.

Bringing the exterior in isn’t just an aesthetic choice. It’s a spatial boundary.

One of the key features of our Lantern Hill project is the brick that starts on the exterior and runs inside through a couple of key places. We used this continuous material to create a definitive corridor that separates the private bedrooms from the more open public space. But heavy masonry demands careful lighting. To prevent the corridor from feeling dark, we used frosted glass doors within the brick to play up the natural light, allowing the large bedroom windows to bleed light back into the space.

When materiality and natural light play together, the architecture does the heavy lifting for the floor plan.

There is a profound difference between a floor plan and a tailored life…

Having the space that you occupy specifically tailored to your family, your habits, and your social life is the key difference of having an architect involved. In our industry, it is far too common to see people picking plans off the shelf and trying to squeeze their lives into them. But as architects, we are trained to take all of those unique human elements into consideration and truly tailor a space to someone’s life. We believe custom should actually mean custom. We don’t just draw walls; we design how spaces feel.

There are three garage doors in this shot. Most people walk right past without finding them.

Inside The Work, Ep. 1: Lantern Hill Breakdown

We clad the garage doors in the same material as the walls, flush, so all you see is a thin reveal joint. It reads as siding, not garage doors. That one decision keeps the whole facade quiet.

Same thinking at the entry. Oversized steps, an oversized landing, a six foot pivot door, and a section of roof opened up into framed skylights so the light meets you before the house does.

The office sits tucked into that entryway. Private, but you still see who’s walking up.

None of it announces itself. That’s the point.
