We’re into the salvage and perhaps salvation of old stuff, useful stuff, stuff some might say is past its prime but in our opinion not without value. When you think of the workmanship that originally went into these items it’s hard to see them destined for the garbage can, landfill or burn pile. So that’s where we step in. For us, the passion started with a porch swing. One seasoned with 60+ years
of joy, bonding, family and love, which thankfully made its way into our home. This swing has had such an impact on our lives you could make the case we constructed an entire front porch just to house it! And each day we have been able to enjoy and build new generations of memories on it has made it all worthwhile. Yes, we do create some hand crafted items from scratch, but it’s the old stuff where our passion lies…and the stories behind them. While the origins aren’t always known, the romanticism of looking at an old tool chest turned coffee table or pre-1950s door converted into a wall tree (two of our early and favorite projects) and imagining its past life is powerful. What tools may have been stored in that chest and what did they create? What opportunities or hardships lay behind and beyond that door that now sits in your hallway? These items, while restored or perhaps repurposed, come with an authenticity, history and soul that is just not possible to recreate in a modern piece. And in our humble opinion, provides just the right finishing touch in just the right place to turn your already beautiful house into a home.
