In partnership with the City of Gary and Lake County Commissioner Kyle Allen, Milestone has begun a resurfacing project along Ridge Road, one of the city's most heavily travelled corridors.

"These improvements along Ridge Road represent another important investment in Gary’s infrastructure and transportation network,” Mayor Eddie Melton said. “We are continuing the work of improving our roadways, enhancing safety, and creating a better experience for residents, businesses, and visitors traveling through our city.”

May is over, but we’re not over all the fun the Milestone team had at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (IMS) last month! Each year, our team enjoys hosting friends and colleagues in the Milestone suite at the IMS. Whether it’s a networking event, a family-oriented get-together or a day spent watching practice with familiar faces, time at the track is always time well spent.

Some of the highlights from this year include:

Over the past week, Milestone has had the honor of sponsoring Girls Construction Camp in Indianapolis. On Wednesday, we hosted participating students at our I-65 Safety and Efficiency Project site, where they learned about job sites, equipment, bridge construction, and more.

Girls Construction Camp offers middle school girls real-world exposure to construction and design through site visits, hands-on activities and interaction with industry professionals. The week offers students the opportunity to build skills, relationships and confidence while learning more about our industry.

Ever wondered what it takes to safely remove a massive steel bridge—over one of Indiana’s busiest interstates?

We went behind-the-scenes on a weekend demolition operation on I-65 in downtown Indianapolis, where Milestone crews carefully dismantled an abandoned railroad bridge between Fletcher Avenue and Washington Street. With the traveling public just feet away, safety remained the top priority throughout the operation. Every step—from road closure to final haul-off—required constant awareness, coordination, and teamwork to deliver a successful and efficient project. Thanks to Project Manager Wyatt Jester for walking us through the process.

Projects like this showcase the expertise, planning and commitment required to keep infrastructure moving forward while protecting the communities we serve.

Last week, Milestone crews from Lafayette and Indianapolis worked overnight to pour the bridge deck at the US 52 / I-65 interchange. The new interchange will provide better access to both I-65 and US 52, enhance safety and improve traffic flow in the area.

Fountain Central Jr./Sr. High School students recently visited Milestone's Plant 23 in Veedersburg, Indiana to get a hands-on look at our asphalt operations. Led by Eric Brown and Josh Clark, with Mrs. Ashwill accompanying her high school class, the visit highlighted the variety of career opportunities available within our industry. Students finished the tour with a better understanding of the work we do and the role they could potentially play in building and maintaining our infrastructure.
