Why we mess with ventilation when we do a roof.

A roof isn’t only shingles. Heat and moisture have to get out of the attic, or they cook the underside of the deck and shorten the life of whatever you just paid for.

Intake low (soffits). Exhaust high (ridge or vents). Blocked baffles, stuffed insulation, or a bathroom fan dumping into the attic all fight that airflow.

When we reroof, we check that path. Not because it’s a nice upsell. Because a new shingle on a hot, damp attic is a short story.

What does “certified Malarkey installer actually mean?

Not a sticker we bought online.

Malarkey trains and tests the crews they trust to install their shingles. Certified contractors can offer homeowners the enhanced product warranties that only come with that program, when the roof is built as a full Malarkey system (shingles plus the required accessories), not a random mix of leftover parts.

For you, that usually shows up as: product installed the way the manufacturer wrote it, and a warranty path that isn’t available from every truck with a ladder.

Most TPO manufacturer warranties get voided if water sits on the roof more than 48 hours.

This is what you don’t want: water hanging out on the seams. Ponding leaves dirt rings, loads the membrane, and puts stress right where sheets meet.

Flat roofs need a path off. If water’s camping, the system isn’t draining like it should.

Attics in September are their own weather system.

Bathroom fans that dump into the attic (instead of outside) turn a hot roof into a damp one. You won’t see it from the street. You’ll feel it as a sticky upstairs, or years later as soft decking.

Weird little detail. Huge difference.
