Give. Plants. Space. 2-3 years from now, you will be glad you did! When you first plant something, it may appear slightly “lack-luster”, but that is very normal. Growth takes time! Don’t forget the sleep, creep, leap rule! Years 1, 2, and 3 of growth are very different from each other!

With a handful of simple cuts on this beautiful Limelight Hydrangea and Dwarf Lilac, you can tell these trees are trees again! Upon opening the Lilac tree up, the back sides of the False Cypress (Golden Mop) shrubs were more sparse and darker green, rather than the golden color on the front. Being under the Lilac, they had not seen the sun on their back sides in a very long time, as you can tell from one of the pictures. This would have eventually caused them to decline more. Sometimes simple changes have a profound impact!

Happy Labor Day! Behold - there are indeed boxwoods in front of these Hydrangeas! Smooth Hydrangeas are unique - they love to send root suckers out and spread to areas you maybe did not intend for them to spread to. A simple foliage snip does not fix this problem. You must cut the suckers spreading through the ground on occasion to keep up with this! Now these boxwoods can see the sun again and this will prevent leaf loss on the back sides of them! Give us ladies a call! 😊
