This Memorial Day, we pause to remember and honor those who gave their lives serving our country.

We are especially thankful for the members of our team and their family members who have served or continue to serve in our military forces. Your sacrifice, dedication, and commitment mean more than words can express.

Today is about gratitude, remembrance, and honoring those who helped protect the freedoms we enjoy every day. As you spend time with family and friends this weekend, please take a moment to remember the meaning of this day.

A little rain didn’t stop a recent weekend on the water supporting a great cause!

We recently hosted a few industry friends at the Reelin' For Research offshore fishing tournament, helping raise funds for children’s cancer research.
To top it off, our team brought home the win!🏆A great finish to an already meaningful weekend.

Big thanks to Steve Ingle, Pat Nichols, Will Walden, Myles Addison, and Chris Wilshire for participating and contributing to this great event.

We are proud to be part of an industry that shows up for causes like this!

As we close out Construction Safety Week, we reflect on what it really means to our people. As Lisa W., our OH Safety Manager, puts it:
“At the end of the day, we’re not just building projects, we’re building trust in each other.”
Safety Week might be coming to an end, but our commitment carries on. Safety remains our first priority and a core value in everything we do, every day.

Day 4 of Construction Safety Week focuses on Respect. Respecting the plan and taking time to reassess when conditions have changed. Keeping our teams safe by respecting one another and participating in the planning process.
As Luke H. says, “When the team is engaged and deliberate in the planning process, it leads to accountability and the job looks intentional and less chaotic or reactive.”

Day 3 of Construction Safety Week features OSHA’s National Safety Stand-Down to Prevent Falls. Falls remain one of the leading causes of serious injuries in construction, but the reality is most are preventable when we plan ahead, use the right protection, and look out for one another. Today is a reminder to slow down, speak up, and never take shortcuts when it comes to working at height. Sid S. from our North Carolina region said it best: “It doesn’t matter what your title is, if something doesn’t look right, saying something can prevent someone from getting in trouble or hurt.”

Day 2 of Construction Safety Week focuses on responding to hazards. This might mean adjusting daily as conditions change and making sure the plan is clearly communicated and understood by everyone on the team. Kelton L. from our Portland region said it best: “Responding to hazards the right way could be the difference of you or another co-worker making it home or not.”

We’re kicking off Construction Safety Week with an important reminder: safety starts with what you recognize.

Superintendent Luke G. from our Indianapolis team put it simply: We hold people to a high safety standard, we are not just talk, we take action. At BMWC, that means speaking up, and making sure every person goes home safe.
