The Smedleys building has been sitting quiet on the 300 block of Main Street for years. But this summer, local artist Brady showed up with a few cans of paint and reminded us what this place can be!
Out back, a woman with a glowing green cicada across her eyes now watches over the alley. Inside, a deer with a crystal blue heart stares out from walls that have waited a long time for color. (That second photo is Brady mid-work, respirator on and totally in the zone.)
Brady is a Kansas muralist and tattoo artist inspired by rural Americana, wildlife, and run-down places. Couldn’t think of a better fit for a building with this much history!
This is just the beginning for The Depot. 🦌💚
