POSITION SUMMARY:
The QA Inspector/CMM Programmer and Operator will be responsible for first article, in-process and final inspection and for reporting on the findings. This process will be performed at client locations as well at AC, Inc. facilities as required. This position will be responsible for designing and testing CMM program logic, coding programs, program documentation and preparation of programs for CMM operation. Candidate must have working knowledge of CMM software PC-DMIS and Calypso.
This position also inspects and verifies that product received from outside sources is in conformance to the company requirements and that items received are complete, correct and have the required documentation. In addition, this position will perform FAI of completed parts and assemblies per company or customer specification.
The QA Inspector/CMM Programmer and Operator will also be responsible for other quality related tasks as assigned.
PREREQUISITES:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• Position relevant education (i.e., High school education, technical/vocational training, college)
• Must have knowledge of inspection equipment and tools (CMM, optical comparator, Height Gage, etc.), Statistical Process Control and Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
• A mechanical aptitude and the ability to help analyze and troubleshoot manufacturing issues when needed
• Complete understanding of true position dimensioning and familiarity with engineering drawing terminology
• Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications
• General knowledge of Manufacturing Processes
• Highly motivated/willingness to learn
• Ability to handle multiple tasks
• Good Communication skills
• Solid Math skills
• Computer Skills (i.e., Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook/other Email Client, etc.)
• Sound judgment as demonstrated by past and present work habits
• Excellent Attendance
• Minimum of three years of quality experience preferred
DUTIES:
• Prepare First Article forms, complete inspection related tasks and populate forms
with required data
• Prepare and complete in-process inspection forms and inspection verifications to support the
company’s quality processes
• Coordinate, design and implement CMM processes to measure parts per company and customer
requirements
• Responsible for maintaining an organized file system for CMM Programs
• Ability to use the given software to program and operate CMM machine
• Communicate with QA, Engineering and Manufacturing regarding customer drawing requirements
• Works within specifications provided to meet programming assignment goals and objectives in a
timely and accurate manner
• Maintains integrity of CMM program logic and coding, and establishes required checks and
balances for operational controls
• Keeps up-to-date with knowledge of CMM computer operating procedures and operating
standards
• Produce CMM procedural documentation as required
• Performs dimensional inspection using micrometers, calipers, comparator and/or other measuring
tools
• Performs visual inspection to assure parts received are uniform and free of defects, tool marks and
other discrepancies that could affect the function of the parts
• Preparation of First Article Masters
• Prepare Non-Conformance Reports for any out-of-specification characteristics and coordinates
cause and corrective action development as well as engineering disposition of the discrepant
characteristic
• Ensures that all manufacturing process documentation (method sheets and route sheets) and
engineering drawing specifications are met.
• Maintains clean, well-organized work area while performing all assigned tasks in a manner
consistent with company safety/environmental regulations
• Maintain calibration log of inspection related equipment and coordinate required calibrations so that
active equipment is calibrated within required time frames
• Required to use statistical sampling techniques
• Ensures that paperwork and computer data entry corresponds with parts in process and that data is
correct.
• Train new team members in proper inspection techniques
• Files inspection records
• Maintains a clean and safe work area
• Sets up a process for inspection according to customer’s guidelines
• Assists other inspectors in performing inspection processes as required
• Assist management team with outsourcing CMM work as required by clients’ needs.
• Must have the ability to perform simple math calculations (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
