READ THIS TODAY and thought it worthy of passing along to anyone out there that already is or is considering gong out on their own...to own your own business.

“Going out and creating your own business is hard, and a lot of people say they want to do it, but it’s taking that first step,“ he said. “An everyday person, if they follow some basic principles and they really understand that the hardest part is going to be when you know it’s over and you know you need to give up ... That you don’t give up.”
Billionaire Glenn Stearns.

“I THINK THIS IS IN LIFE’S CHALLENGES AS WELL!”

And frankly this is a awesome reminder to me after owning my own company for forty-eight years. Often times things don't go as you had hoped for; but sometimes you just didn't plan well enough advance for it either! Success is only 10% luck the other 90% is planning and working smarter...not harder with less!

What you can’t see when you drive by the home in Historic Huntsville Old Town, because it’s happening inside. We are rebuilding the character of this circa 1853 home, I affectionately called the “ol’maiden”.

Drywall is finishing this weekend and the large beams in the family / kitchen areas are being sanded smooth and lifted carefully into place. These large solid-wood beams frame the recess lighting and will be filled into the center of each frame with tongue and groove planks this coming week.

The interior finish materials are all scheduled to arrive over the coming weeks as doors, crown moldings and more are prepared to be installed. Final cabinet measurements lay the groundwork to an incredibly functional yet beautiful furniture grade layout.

We await with anticipation the selections of finish products of tile for floors and showers, fireplace mantles, solid stone surrounds. Oh, this is an exciting time in Huntsville Old Town!

This memory popped up from five years ago. JRW Construction, Inc. had come out of 2020/Covid stronger than ever. No crew C-19 health issues, we were super careful, and one of our best years in JRW history.

Then 2021 hit: Many of my crew and I got COVID. Some didn’t make it. Others, like me, barely survived. Labor dried up. Materials vanished because the supply chain had been shut down in 2020. Inflation went wild.

We were still locked into fixed-price contracts, so we lost over $200,000 that year, a historical low. As widely reported, alot of builders just walked away from their contracts. We didn’t. We finished every project at the same quality, purpose and poise, like it never even happened. I stuck to what this post below said back then, and I can tell you now, it was absolutely true!

I’d like to share this with you today…from five years ago.

”God has awesome things in your future, but the only way you’ll see them is if you keep being consistent: not moved by what’s not happening, not discouraged because it’s taking longer, not slacking off because you don’t see any sign of it. When you travel steadily, you’re going to come into blessings and favor because of your faithfulness. Not because you have great talent, great courage, great faith, but because you keep doing the right thing.” - Joel Olsteen

I’m grateful for the blessings God continues to bring me in my life. Thanks for following our page. - Mike

A peek back in to the home we have well underway in North Huntsville. Well we’ve been working outside when it’s sunny and inside when there is rain. So any day recently could be either or both in one day.

This cozy generational home has totally remodeled in the existing home making better use of space allowing a more spacious and open floor plan.

The addition is everything you’d want in an addition with extra living spaces inside and the expansion flows out onto the covered porch.

In days we will have a new front porch that will have a future swing and a couple of rocking chairs, says the owners.

This home is special to us too. It’s the first home in six years that was designed in-house here at JRW Construction, Inc..

The home in Huntsville Old Town is really taking shape outside and inside. The neighbors are so happy with the exterior remodeled and enhanced features, but especially the new color palette. Inside sheetrock is up everywhere and is currently being finished.

We are busy scheduling in all of the interior finish materials as we enter a new phase of finish inside. Outside we expect newly designed grounds, garage and outdoor entertainment spaces that will allow us to begin putting a ribbon around this beautiful home for our patient clients.

Looking back on East Clinton’s historical restoration we had the privilege of adding onto her and remodeling and renewing inside for some great folks!

When we restore circa 1800’s homes you never know what you might run across. This circa 1835 Chapman home had a very large cistern behind the home.

I had noticed when I knocked on the gutter downspout clay pipe I could hear a hollow noise. One day I saw a 24” diameter red clay base holding a artificial plant. I pulled it up and was totally surprised but what I found.

A 16’ deep x 14’ wide cistern, sitting on solid limestone rock. Its walls all stone and smeared cement over it. The top turned out to be a geometrically perfect brick dome cap. The cistern was fed by the gutter downspouts and a nearby, now dry spring house.

I had built a great addition in 5 Points for a spelunker who came over and created this video and recorded all dimensions. There was no confederate gold but it was a great discovery.

Sadly this rested under part of our addition and I had to fill it all in with gravel. But not before we recorded what was to be a really cool find, that provided really cool water for what was one of the largest dairy farms at one time in the southeastern United States. - Mike

We love bringing homes back to their former glory… pictured the circa 1835 home in the Chapman area of Huntsville. It’s listed in the National Registry of Historical Homes and we had great clients that partnered with us to bring her back and some!
