Experience, expertise, and a dedication to strengthening Army operations — meet Cheryl Montgomery, our September Employee Spotlight!

As a Project Manager for Audit Readiness – E&DL, Cheryl brings more than 30 years of experience in environmental funds management and business process improvement. She supports the U.S. Army Environmental Command and BRAC, leading efforts that strengthen E&DL audit readiness, improve processes, and help ensure sustainable financial accountability.

Outside of work, Cheryl enjoys traveling, spending time at the beach with family and friends, volunteering at the food bank, cheering on Virginia Tech football, and supporting her daughter’s pursuit of a professional ballet career.

Thompson Gray was well represented at the joint National Defense Industrial Association - (NDIA) Emerging Technologies for Defense Conference & Exhibition and Society of Defense Financial Management (SDFM) 2026 Data Analytics & Decision Support Conference!

The combined event brought together defense and financial management professionals to explore advancements in data analytics, artificial intelligence, acquisition transformation, and emerging technologies.

Tony Pappas led a hands-on session highlighting how Robotic Process Automation (RPA) and Data Analytics (DA) can work together as enablers for Artificial Intelligence (AI). Myrna Medina and Luke Freeman also showcased Thompson Gray’s AI-driven reconciliation proof of concept, demonstrating how automation can reduce research time and enhance support for financial analysts.

Today, on the 25th anniversary of September 11, 2001, we pause to remember the lives lost, honor the heroes who answered the call, and reflect on the courage and resilience that emerged from one of the most difficult days in our nation’s history.

Twenty-five years later, we continue to pay tribute to the innocent victims, first responders, service members, and all those whose lives were forever changed. Their bravery, selflessness, and sacrifice continue to inspire us and remind us of the strength found in unity.

As we mark this solemn anniversary, may we carry forward the spirit of courage, strength, and hope that brought our nation together. We remember. We honor. We will never forget.
