Watering your trees during scorching days can be challenging as the heat causes water to evaporate quickly before it reaches the roots. To minimize evaporation loss, water your trees slowly in the morning or evening. Be careful not to overwater, as this can cause root rot. Instead, aim for shorter, daily watering sessions to keep your trees healthy and thriving.

Although most insects aren't harmful to trees, identifying potential tree pest problems early on gives you an advantage in controlling them. Watch out for pests like magnolia scale, bagworms, Japanese beetles, aphids, and spider mites, which are active during the summer months.

Heat stress can often lead to water stress, as your trees' roots take up more water quickly during hot weather. To keep your trees healthy and prepared for the summer and early fall heat, follow these tips:

💧Provide irrigation: Especially important before a heat wave hits. If you have an irrigation system, make sure it's set to a summer schedule.

💧Replenish mulch: Add mulch around your tree’s trunk and drip line as needed, but keep it away from the tree's base.

💧Avoid high-nitrogen fertilizers: These can stimulate green growth while a tree is stressed and lacks the energy to produce new leaves.
