The storm is coming, which means it’s time for the important question: Do we have enough milk and bread?? 🤔

Once that’s settled, charge your phones and backup batteries, find the flashlights, secure loose items outside, and keep an eye on local weather alerts. We look to Islandwide Weather for updated and accurate info!

And while you’re getting the house ready, don’t forget your floors. Wind and rain can bring water in through doors, windows, and chimneys, etc.

Swipe through for a few simple ways to protect your floors before, during, and after the storm. Stay safe, Long Island! 💚

First day of fall feels like the perfect time to talk about change. 🍂

Sometimes your floors don’t need to be replaced — they just need a fresh start.

If you’ve recently purchased a home, refinishing the existing hardwood floors is one of the best ways to make the space feel like yours. A new stain color and fresh finish can completely change the look and feel of a room before you even move the furniture in.

If your floors are scratched, faded, yellowed, too orange, too dark, or just don’t feel like “you,” refinishing may be the change your home needs.

Never Forget.

This has been said countless times by countless people. It has different meaning for every person who utters those words. If you were alive and especially if you were in NY, or from NY, it probably has an even deeper meaning. All of us lost friends, family, acquaintances or coworkers. All of us have personal stories to tell of that day. All of us can NOT erase those memories, no matter how hard we try. All of us can Never Forget.
Here’s what I will Never Forget. Lines of people waiting to give blood at Hospitals for the survivors that never came. First responders, Nurses and Doctors from Hospitals all over the region, heading into NYC to back up the Doctors and Nurses at Triage centers that never got filled because there were no survivors. I remember a line of Long Island Volunteer Fire Trucks, as far as the eye could see, filling the LI Expressway on their way to back up to the FDNY. I remember the stories of Heroism from regular people who got people out of the buildings. stories of store owners giving water and shelter to people evacuating on foot, covered in the most horrific dust, scared and confused. I remember the following days where the world around us was so silent and subdued. People were polite and kind. We all knew that everyone we looked at was going through the same pain. Our compassion and Love outshined our differences. We all got knocked down with those buildings but we all knew it was our Duty as New Yorkers to get the f**k up and show the rest of America that we will never ever let anything knock us out. We are resilient, strong and our true spirit was awakened that day. I wish my children and all of our children and children’s children could have experienced that. We saw a NY and a USA that was true and pure and United. Nothing is more powerful than the Human spirit and that’s what I will Never Forget.

WE’VE BEEN GETTING QUESTIONS ABOUT TARIFFS…

With so much talk about tariffs and imported building materials lately, some homeowners are wondering if now is a good time to start a flooring project.

GOOD NEWS: all of the hardwood we source is domestic. 🇺🇸

The majority of our hardwood is sourced from the Midwest and Northeast, with some coming from Kentucky and Tennessee.

We’ve always believed that where your flooring comes from matters — not just what it looks like when the job is finished.

When comparing hardwood flooring estimates, it’s worth asking: Where is the hardwood coming from?

At Oldfield Flooring, we know what we’re installing, where it comes from, and why we stand behind it.

New owners. Fresh start. Beautiful floors. ✨

After 30 years with the previous homeowners, this Smithtown home was ready for its next chapter. We sanded the existing hardwood floors, finished them with a warm Nutmeg stain, and protected them with Bona Traffic HD in Satin.

No new floors needed — just bringing the originals back to life for the family who gets to call this place home next.

And just like that… you’d never know there was a wall there before!

After weaving new white oak into the existing hardwood, we sanded everything together and finished the floors with a custom stain and Bona Traffic HD.

The result? One continuous hardwood floor flowing through this newly opened Greenlawn home—with no obvious transition between the old and new.

With a baby on the way, the homeowner prioritized low-VOC products and proper dust containment throughout the refinishing process. Creating beautiful floors matters—but so does being thoughtful about the home we're working in and the people who live there. We’re so excited for this family as they get ready to welcome their newest addition!

GREENLAWN, NY Work in progress! Removing a wall opened up this home—but it also meant bringing two flooring areas together.

We installed new white oak and carefully wove it into the existing hardwood, creating a seamless transition where the wall once stood.

Stay tuned for the after shots!

Opening up a space is one thing. Making the floors look like the wall was never there? That’s where we come in!

Removing a wall left us with two separate flooring areas that needed to become one. We weaved new white oak into the existing hardwood so that once everything is sanded and finished, the transition disappears.

Next up: sanding and finishing to bring it all together. We’ll show you the finished Greenlawn transformation soon!
