On September 2nd, we celebrated the completion of our SR-162 & SR-262 Safety and Energy Corridor in Montezuma Creek, Utah with Lt. Governor Deidre Henderson and Executive Director of UDOT Carlos Braceras.

This was a two year project - the largest project in Nielson Construction & Materials history. This project was located within the Navajo Nation Indian Reservation and consisted of 104 lane miles of asphalt paving, 54 miles of new fiber optics cable, 800,00 cubic yards of excavation and embankment, new bridge construction over McElmo Creek, 22 miles of roadway fencing, 60 cattle guards, 20 large scale storm drain systems and 6 bridge rehabilitations.

With the outstanding collaboration within Nielson Construction, UDOT, Sunrise Engineering, and all of our subcontractors, we were able to finish four months ahead of schedule!

Our paving crew had the opportunity to place Cold in-place Recycle (CIR) material with Coughlin Co, in Ibapah, UT. CIR is an innovative process that recycles asphalt, making it stronger while reducing project costs and timelines.

We appreciate the relationship with Coughlin and Jones & DeMille, as we were able to optimize this process and finish 8 days early!
