Let's talk about fescue for a minute.
The fescue grasses, when planted properly, germinate within 10 to 14 days. Fall is the best time to plant fescue and other cool season grass.
Another fun fact!
It is the rhizomes from the bluegrass that hold the sod together and keep it from falling apart. Overseeding is important with tall fescue. A blade of grass only lives an average of 40 days before it dies. Message us for 40% off your first cut!

Do you think there's no way to control your lawns leaf wetness? Think again! To minimize leaf wetness, do not irrigate your lawn daily. Instead, irrigation should be applied based on weather conditions and the water requirements of the turf. The time of day that irrigation is applied is also critical; it is best to irrigate early in the morning, just before sunrise. This removes large droplets of dew and water from the leaves and speeds drying of the foliage after sunrise. Avoid watering in the late afternoon or evening, as this will increase the duration of leaf wetness.

The first problem we see that causes brown patch is turf grass leaves continuously being wet for at least 10 to 12 hours, unfortunately this allows brown patch fungus to infect your lawn in a instant. Poor soil drainage, lack of air movement, shade, cloudy weather, dew, over-watering, and watering in the late afternoon favor prolonged leaf wetness and increased disease severity. Brown patch is particularly severe in turf that has been fertilized with excessive nitrogen. Inadequate levels of phosphorus and potassium also contribute to injury from this disease.
