HOLIDAY LIGHTS SAFETY TIPS:
-Turn off holiday or decorative lights: when you leave the room or home, and when you go to bed.
-Examine each string of lights for broken or cracked sockets, missing bulbs, loose connections and frayed or bare wires before hanging. Throw out damaged sets.
-Do not overload extension cords or outlets. Make sure cord is rated for the intended use and is in good condition.
-Do not string more than 3 sets of lights together on any one extension cord.
-Make sure cords and lights are out of reach of small children and pets.
-Make sure lights are designated for outdoor use if hanging outside.
-All outdoor electrical decorations should be plugged into a ground-fault circuit interrupter (GFCI).
-Keep connections and lights off the ground outside.
-Secure outdoor lights with insulated holders or through plastic hooks. Never use tacks or nails.
-Ensure safety while using a ladder. Use a non-conducting fiberglass or wooden ladder and stay clear of overheard wires. Have a friend or family member help!
