To our Neat Fence family,

For the first time in a very very long time, I’m taking a week away to focus on what matters most.

Neat Fence will be closed July 19–26, and I’ll be back in action on Monday, July 27.

This past 12 months has been one of the most difficult seasons of my life. While working to keep Neat Fence growing, I’ve also been navigating personal challenges and changes, fluctuating staff, learning how to balance life as a dad in a new chapter during our extremely busy times, and carrying the weight that comes with running a small business through some very challenging times. Add to it, the recent extreme heat and poor air quality have created delays that have been frustrating for both our customers, crews and myself.

I don’t often share personal things, but I also believe in being genuine. Behind every small business is a singular person doing their best, and I’m no different.

This week is about spending uninterrupted time with my kids, the people I love, and coming back with a clear mind and renewed energy. I owe that to my family, my team, and to every customer who has trusted Neat Fence with their home.

To every customer, employee, subcontractor, supplier, friend, and family member who has supported Neat Fence through this season—thank you. Your patience, encouragement, referrals, understanding and trust have meant more than I can adequately express.

Another unsafe day to be outdoors as we consider our workers well being as well as ensure quality remains a priority. As a hard working blue collar owner, I understand the jobs have to be done, and the moneys got to come in, but we all have one life to live, and reading about owners making peope work and their coughing up dark mucus and the end of the day is just not a life no one should live. There is 365 days in a year to make a buck, take a day off, your body will thank you.

Summer 2026 has been a little dramatic… 🌧️🔥💨

First it was rain and wind delays. Then came the record-breaking heat. Now we’re dealing with hazardous wildfire smoke.

At this point, we’re just waiting for frogs to start falling from the sky, that’s a head injury waiting to happen. 🐸😂

We’d rather delay a project than risk our crews’ health or the quality of your installation. Thanks for sticking with us through one of the wildest Michigan summers we can remember. We promise we’re working hard to get everyone back on schedule as soon as it’s safe. 💪🏡

A Message to Our Customers & Community

The safety of our customers and our crews will always come before the schedule, it’s not selfishness or laziness or lack of care for our customers. It’s simply that no fence is ever worth putting somebody’s long-term health in danger. As the owner of this company who has been around a lot of weather conditions between Michigan and Texas, today is one of the worst days in my 25 years in this industry.

Just to reiterate, Due to the extremely poor air quality and hazardous levels of fine particulate matter from the current smoke conditions, we made the difficult decision to suspend outdoor installations today and potentially tomorrow (Friday). Our crews spend 10-12 hours performing strenuous physical labor outside, and these conditions create unnecessary health risks that we are simply not willing to ask them to work through.

We know delays are frustrating, and this is never a decision we make lightly. But at the end of the day, every one of our team members deserves to go home safely, breathe healthy air, and spend time with their families. No fence project is worth risking someone’s long-term health.

As soon as conditions improve and it is safe to return, our crews will be back on the job working hard to get every project back on schedule.

We sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding, and support. Thank you for allowing us to put the health and safety of our team first.
