Have you turned on your furnace yet? You don’t want spooky season to creep into November.
To avoid furnace issues when temperatures get scary cold, you should test run your furnace to make sure it works correctly.
Things to do before the first run:
Test your thermostat- Set to heat and raise the temperature a few degrees higher than room temp and let run for 15-20 minutes.
Expect a mild smell- A dust burning smell is normal during the first 10 minutes. This just means your heat exchanger is burning off dust that was accumulated in the warmer months. If the smell is strong, such as burning plastic or rotten gas, shut off your system immediately and give us a call!
Listen for odd sounds- Any grinding, squealing, or repeated clicking sounds indicates operation issues, give us a call!
