The work that keeps New York City running doesn't always make headlines – but it should.
Hallen Integrated Construction Services, along with Hallen Construction and PJS Electric recently completed a major transmission infrastructure project in Queens, NY, delivering a new 3.5-mile underground 138kV circuit connecting two critical substations within New York City's electric system.
Constructed over approximately one year, the project was executed through 100% open-cut excavation in one of the most complex and congested underground utility environments in the world. Despite numerous challenges, the team remained focused on safety, quality, and ex*****on, successfully meeting a critical schedule milestone.
As one of the nation's most densely populated load pockets, New York City requires continuous investment in electric infrastructure to support growing demand and maintain system reliability. This new circuit will help increase capacity and support future load growth throughout the region.
