💡Our superflat pours at Nebraska Furniture have been happening over the past couple of months, and they focus heavily on technique!
As shown in the video, we pour superflat or F-min slabs in strips for several key reasons. The most important reason is that it is much more manageable to achieve the required flatness. With a narrower placement width and less square footage at one time, we can finish the concrete with greater efficiency, control, and accuracy. Pouring in strips also helps to control cracking, shrinkage, and curling, essentially reducing the natural tendencies of concrete as it cures.
Proper setup is critical for a superflat slab, starting with formwork that is laser-leveled to within a hundredth of an inch. The finishing technique demonstrated in the video is very specific. It requires a defined number of passes with a hand-held bump cutter, followed by passes with a trowel machine, typically in opposite directions.
