A primary closet can be so much more than storage.

For this Memorial home, Olivia created a serene, moody retreat with a softly lit makeup vanity, statement chandelier and a graphic vinyl wallcovering that brings both personality and practicality to the space.

The finishing touches are coming together, and this is one room we wouldn’t mind spending a little extra time in.

Good architecture makes even the hardest working spaces feel considered.

Positioned just beyond the kitchen, this pantry creates additional storage, prep space, and everyday functionality while maintaining a seamless connection to the rest of the home. Everything has its place, keeping the kitchen ready for both daily routines and entertaining.

AI can create a beautiful room in seconds. But is that the same as designing one?

After Mark sent Olivia a video from Charley Boring about AI’s impact on the interior design industry, we brought the conversation into the studio.

Is AI a threat, a tool, or something in between? Olivia shares her perspective on where technology fits into the design process and what it can’t replace.

What do you think?

A cohesive home doesn’t have to mean a matching one.

For our first Studio Chat of Season Three, Olivia is talking about the common thread that can carry a home from room to room, even when the colors, finishes and personality of each space are completely different.

How do you create that sense of connection without making everything feel the same? Olivia shares her approach to designing interiors around the individual client and why no two Collaborative Design Group homes are ever repeated.

Planning a home of your own? We’d love to help you create something that feels distinctly yours.

Designed to be experienced from every angle.

Floating wood treads, glass railings, and a strong steel structure give this staircase a sculptural quality while preserving the openness and natural light throughout the home.

A new chapter is beginning in River Oaks.

After extensive damage required the original residence to come down, Collaborative Design Group and Sugar Creek Homes are honored to bring a new vision to life for the ASID Show House. Together, we are creating a residence that honors the character of its setting while introducing a fresh architectural and interior perspective.

We look forward to sharing the story as it takes shape.

The courtyard may have brought us here, but the study continues to steal the show.

As finish work progresses throughout this Houston home, the vision for this space is becoming much easier to see. The study opens directly to the courtyard, connects to the adjoining prayer room, and now has a fireplace that completely changes the feeling of the room.

For Mark, it has already become one of his favorite spaces he has designed. A fire, a good book, and the courtyard just outside? We can see why.

And there’s more to see inside this study. Part two coming next.

The decisions that shape a home begin long before the floor plan is finalized.

For our final Studio Chat of this series, Mark talks through the big-picture considerations that establish the direction of a home from the start: the site, size, architectural style, orientation, views, and even how the sun interacts with the property.

Each decision informs the next, creating the vocabulary we use to develop a home that responds to both its setting and the way our clients want to live.

What is one of the first things you would consider when designing a home?

A little now you see it, now you don’t.

What looks like a continuous wall of warm millwork opens to reveal a hidden pantry, keeping everything within reach without interrupting the clean lines of the space. Sometimes the best features are the ones hiding in plain sight.
