This is not Virginia Buttonw**d... it's what we call Roadside Aster. and while the picture is pretty, it ain't so pretty and invasive enough in yards to ruin your existing turf. And without naming any names, one of my heroes and mentors in this world of garden advice has a famous saying, when anyone asks him , "Well, whats the cure?" His answer is always "TAKE BETTER CARE OF YOUR LAWN!" That's because much like almost all broadleaf w**ds out there, if you fertilize, pre-emergent herbicide, mow and irrigate correctly, you won't see w**ds like this, who are opportunistic when all the aforementioned care practices aren't followed. I can tell you that even though it doesn't look like a typical broadleaf w**d, you can hit it with the Cool Season herbicides, that work on things like Virginia Buttonw**d at this time of the year, such as the MSM style, as talked about here: And as the tip sheet notes, and for the "manic organics" out there, simply pull it up when you see it.
