Many companies will tell you their buildings are safe. Fewer can tell you exactly what they have been tested against.

FORTRESS protective buildings are engineered and proven against blasts beyond 8 psi, propane jet fires up to one hour, fragment impact equivalent to 3/4 inch steel, toxic gas ingress below 0.1 ACH, and winds beyond Category 5 hurricanes and F5 tornadoes.

One building. Every threat.

Today, we honor the brave men and women who have served our country with courage and conviction. Your dedication to protecting others inspires everything we do.

FORTRESS is proud to stand behind that same spirit of American strength by designing and building our protective structures right here in the USA to safeguard those who safeguard others.

Thank you for your service. Have a meaningful Memorial Day

We all teach our kids the basics: don’t touch the stove, stay away from flames and be careful around anything hot. But during an emergency, the real question is: what is standing between your family and the danger outside?

In a recent demonstration, FORTRESS subjected the exterior of the FORTRESS Defender to prolonged torch exposure. After several minutes of direct fire, the interior side remained safe to the touch.

Built with 8-inch reinforced concrete, the FORTRESS Defender is designed to help create real separation between your loved ones and hazards like fire, extreme weather and other high-consequence events.

Because a safe room should do more than give your family a place to go. It should give you confidence in what is protecting them. Learn more about residential safety https://na2.hubs.ly/H05rb_50

For residential protection, safety should not stop at one hazard.

The FORTRESS MRB was originally engineered for high-hazard industrial environments, but its purpose is simple: protect people, assets, and essential spaces when conditions become dangerous.

Built with 8-inch reinforced concrete, the MRB is designed for multi-hazard resistance, helping defend against threats such as extreme weather, fire, explosions, debris, ballistic impacts, and exposure to harmful gas.

For homeowners, families, and residential property owners thinking beyond a traditional storm shelter, that level of proven protection matters. Whether used to support emergency preparedness, protect critical assets, or create a hardened space for severe weather events, the MRB shows what is possible when resilience is built into the structure itself.

How did you spend your late nights in college? This group of Texas A&M University Mechanical Engineering seniors were designing a solar-powered storm shelter.

FORTRESS partnered with the student team to bring the FORTRESS Flex Storm Shelter to life, taking the proven FORTRESS Defender structure and outfitting it with the functionality required for real-world storm readiness.

This completed build includes multiple power supply options, including electrical, generator and solar-powered capability, helping keep critical systems running when conditions outside become unpredictable.

With power, HVAC, restroom access and essential functionality built in, this project shows what can happen when engineering talent meets a very real need: safer, more resilient protection during extreme weather.

Not a bad final project, if you ask us 😏 Great work to these brilliant students.

Cornstarch in the pantry patiently waiting for your next project in the kitchen? Harmless. Cornstarch in the air? Well... that's a different story.

Everyday materials like grain, sugar, flour and cornstarch can become dangerous when fine dust is suspended in the air and exposed to the right conditions.

This demonstration is a simple reminder that safety starts with awareness. Whether you’re thinking about your home, your family or the spaces you rely on every day, real preparedness means understanding the risks that are easy to overlook.

How are you celebrating your community?

Today, we're taking quick break from talking blast ratings, fire testing and multi-hazard protection to recognize something just as important: community and Houston culture.

Being based in Houston means we get to be surrounded by incredible people, traditions, food and culture every day. Cinco de Mayo is a great reminder to appreciate the community we’re lucky to be part of.

At FORTRESS, safety is what we do, but people are why we do it.

Happy Cinco de Mayo from our team to yours!
