Every seat in a lecture hall plays a role in how the space functions and feels. The rise between rows, the curve of the seating, the placement of aisles, and the connection to the teaching area all work together to shape how people see, listen, move, and participate.

When those details are considered as one system, a large learning space can feel more connected and intentional. Each decision supports the next, creating a room where visibility, access, technology, and interaction all work together.

At Thiel Design Group, tiered seating is designed with purpose because the experience of a learning environment is shaped by the details of every seat, not just the room as a whole.

Celebrating 3 years of Yori at THIEL!

Three years in, and Yori is still finding new ways to learn, grow, and take on what comes next at THIEL.

Since joining the team, she has gained experience across healthcare and higher education renovation projects, building her technical skills while developing a deeper understanding of how thoughtful planning, coordination, and communication shape a successful project.

Yori especially values the opportunity to be hands-on throughout her projects. From drafting construction documents to coordinating with consultants, each project has given her a new perspective and another opportunity to strengthen her architectural knowledge and attention to detail.

She also values the close-knit culture at THIEL and the support of the people around her. That combination of hands-on experience, teamwork, and continuous learning has made the past three years especially rewarding.

Yori, we’re glad you’re part of the THIEL team and excited to see where all that curiosity, dedication, and attention to detail take you next. Happy 3-year anniversary!

The spaces people move through every day deserve as much attention as the destinations themselves. Hallways, elevator lobbies, and other transition areas are opportunities to guide movement, reinforce a building's character, and create moments of visual interest along the way.

Thoughtfully integrated details add rhythm, dimension, and continuity, helping these spaces feel intentional. The result is a more cohesive environment that supports orientation, encourages connection, and creates a stronger sense of place. At Thiel Design Group, movement is designed with purpose to because the journey through a building is just as important as where it leads.

Within active environments, even a small degree of separation can make a meaningful difference. A recessed bench, a tucked-away niche, or a shift in scale can create a place where someone can step back without feeling disconnected from the space around them.

These quieter moments offer privacy and breathing room throughout the day. They can give a family space for a private conversation, provide staff with a brief pause, or help someone collect their thoughts before moving on.

At Thiel Design Group, quiet corners are designed with purpose to create moments of privacy, reflection, and renewal within the larger environment.

It’s Kyle’s birthday!

A great birthday, according to Kyle, starts with sleeping in, a good cup of coffee, and a quiet morning. Add time in the pool with his daughters, dinner with family, and a slice of cherry pie with ice cream, and the day is complete.

But one birthday will always stand above the rest. Just five days before his birthday, Kyle and his wife welcomed their first daughter into the world. She and her younger sister remain the greatest joys of his life and the best gifts he could ask for.

Happy Birthday, Kyle. We hope your day is filled with family, good food, and plenty of time to relax.

Thresholds do more than connect one space to the next. When thoughtfully designed, they help people understand where they are, what comes next, and how the space is meant to be used.

Details like framed openings, changes in material, integrated seating, and transparent boundaries can create transitions that feel both intuitive and inviting. These moments may seem subtle, but they help shape how people move, gather, and settle into a space.

At Thiel Design Group, thresholds are designed with purpose to create environments that support clarity, connection, and a stronger sense of place.

It’s Shih-Wei’s birthday!

For Shih-Wei, the perfect birthday is a simple one: a quiet day, dinner with family, and maybe a slice of super-rich chocolate cake. That’s all she needs to celebrate her special day.

She values thoughtful moments and meaningful gestures, especially when they come from the people she loves. One gift that stands out is the bracelet her fiancé gave her for her 40th birthday, a piece she treasures and wears often.

If birthdays had a design brief, Shih-Wei's would be clear: keep it meaningful, keep it relaxed, and don't forget the chocolate cake. Happy Birthday, Shih-Wei. We hope your day is filled with special moments, sweet treats, and everything that makes you happiest.

When care teams have spaces designed to support their day, the benefits can be felt throughout the entire environment. Thoughtful details that create opportunities to step away and reset can strengthen the rhythm of the workplace in meaningful ways.

Elements like softer light, acoustic separation, and convenient access help create spaces where staff can regroup, recharge, and return with renewed energy. These areas may work quietly in the background, but they play an important role in supporting focus, well-being, and the people behind the care.

At Thiel Design Group, staff support spaces are designed with purpose to help teams recharge, reconnect, and continue their work with intention.

Celebrating 5 years of Zory at THIEL!

Zory joined THIEL because she was drawn to the opportunity to do meaningful work. Five years later, that same sense of purpose continues to shape her approach to every project. She describes her role simply and beautifully: designing a better world one project at a time.

Over the years, Zory has grown through the diverse projects she has helped bring to life and the knowledge shared by the team around her. She brings curiosity, care, and a genuine excitement for new clients, new project types, and the opportunity to keep learning along the way.

As she works toward becoming a licensed architect, Zory remains focused on building her skills, contributing to thoughtful design solutions, and creating spaces that positively impact the people who use them.

Zory, thank you for 5 years of dedication, growth, enthusiasm, and passion. Happy Anniversary!

Lighting can do more than brighten a room. Specialty lighting helps define arrival, highlight key moments, and bring a stronger sense of identity to a space.

When thoughtfully integrated, it can guide attention, support the overall mood, and reinforce the character of a reception area, conference room, or office without overwhelming the architecture. Details in placement, scale, and rhythm help lighting become part of the experience, not just the background.

At Thiel Design Group, specialty lighting is designed with purpose to create spaces that feel welcoming, polished, and aligned with the vision behind them.
