Did you know you can conduct a 5-minute tree check to determine if your tree is healthy?
When you have 5 minutes, walk outside and check your tree from the roots up, looking at the following areas:
🌲 Roots: Look for severed roots, the ground heaving up, or signs of decay or fungi, such as mushrooms.
🌱 Root collar: Check for peeling or loose bark, or cracks in the tree.
🪵 Trunk: Look for cavities, small holes, soft or decaying wood, or any signs of swelling.
🌳 Canopy branches: Check for dead or dying branches that hang low and have no leaves. Try and find any V-shaped branch unions, where two branches have grown together, creating structural weakness in the tree.
🍃 Canopy leaves: Look for excessively thick, dense canopies that can easily break. Leaves with spots, holes, odd colors or deformities can indicate anything from disease to heat stress.
If you see any of these signs and are worried about your tree, contact your local Davey arborist for a free consultation here: https://bit.ly/3pTFNlB.
