THE WORK BEHIND THE STANDARD.

Beautiful communities don’t happen because of a logo, a contract, or a good-looking proposal.

They happen because people show up.

They mow the turf, edge the beds, troubleshoot irrigation, pull weeds, install plants, inspect properties, solve problems, and do a hundred small things most people will never notice.

This Labor Day, we’re especially grateful for the men and women behind LEI who make the standard visible every day.

ROSES AREN’T THE ONLY ANSWER. 🌹

In Houston, roses can become a high-maintenance landscape choice fast.

Between Rose Rosette Disease, replacement costs, pruning, pest pressure, and our summers, sometimes the better design decision is not trying harder to make roses work. It’s choosing plant material better suited for the job.

For established communities and HOA common areas, four alternatives worth considering are:

🌿 Dwarf Yaupon Holly — dependable, evergreen, low-maintenance, and extremely durable.

💛 New Gold Lantana — long-season color, strong heat tolerance, and excellent value for larger beds.

💜 Texas Sage — tough, drought-tolerant, low-maintenance, and well-suited for hot, well-drained locations.

The goal is not simply to choose something that looks good on installation day.

It’s to choose plant material that can still make sense three, five, and ten years from now without repeatedly spending association dollars replacing plants that were never a great fit for the site.

For Houston communities, better plant selection can mean better appearance, fewer replacements, and more predictable maintenance costs.

Most people see green turf and a clean, open space.

We see how the water is moving, where the turf is thinning, how the grade is performing, whether the edges are holding, and which small details could become bigger problems if no one is paying attention.
