Math and science aren’t just for classrooms—they’re on the jobsite every single day.

Even the smallest construction task comes down to measurements, geometry, angles, tolerances, materials, and physics. A fraction of an inch may seem insignificant, but over distance, those tiny discrepancies compound—and suddenly a “small” mistake isn’t small anymore.

That’s why we measure, calculate, verify, and then verify again.

Great construction isn’t guesswork. It’s math + science + craftsmanship working together.

The details may be small. The calculations behind them aren’t.

I want to thank our Structural engineer Eric Homburg for explaining the math behind this wall removal and if you need a top notch structural engineer, he is your go to guy. You can watch the full 7 minute - super boring - two guys talking math - video in our YouTube channel.

In this 2-minute clip, Emre and Nadine discuss the sheer scale of the booths at Milano Design Week—and why attending as a visitor from the U.S. can actually come with some unique advantages.

From massive, immersive displays to opportunities to connect directly with international brands, Milano Design Week is unlike any design show in the U.S.

This is just a small part of our 20-minute Milano Design Week discussion. Watch the full video now on our YouTube channel.

Milano Design Week is the epitome of not only design, but also building materials. For six days every year, Milano becomes the see-and-be-seen destination for the design and construction world.

At nearly five times the size of KBIS, this show has a way of humbling you—and overwhelming your senses—like no other design event in the world.

Nadine has attended Milano Design Week five times since 2021, and she has learned how to navigate this massive event from the perspective of someone traveling from the U.S.

In this video, we briefly cover the logistics behind Milano Design Week: where to stay, what to eat, how to get around, and most importantly, how to plan your days so you can efficiently experience both the showgrounds and the incredible design events throughout the city.

We also mention some amazing friends, places, and companies that have become part of our Milano experience over the years:

Another day, another mistake.

This one was super easy to take care of because we caught it within minutes. We nailed it—literally—and moved on.

While we were fixing it, I redirected the carpenters to another task, so we lost absolutely no time.

But here’s the important part: if we weren’t on the jobsite every single day, something this small could have easily cost us at least a full day.

Mistakes happen. Catching them quickly and keeping the project moving is what matters.

If you’re building or renovating and headed to Milano, visit these 5 showrooms for some serious inspiration. 🇮🇹

has an incredible showroom just a short walk from Teatro alla Scala, where you can immerse yourself in some of the finest luxury plumbing fixtures and bathroom design.

is only about a 15-minute walk from Gessi, just outside the Fashion District on the east side of the Duomo. This is the place to see next-level handmade marble sinks, tubs, furniture and other incredible pieces carved from natural stone.

is about a 20-minute walk from Kreoo, showcasing some of the most beautiful contemporary Italian kitchens and cabinetry.

Another 10–15-minute walk takes you to one of my favorite showrooms, . I was invited to the grand opening of this location, and if you love luxury appliances, this is a must-see. Fun fact: some Bertazzoni appliances are painted in the same facility that paints Ferraris. And if you see Nicola, make sure you say hi!

Last but definitely not least, on Corso Buenos Aires is my go-to place for luxury tile—from Versace to truly one-of-a-kind hand-painted pieces. It’s about a 25-minute walk from Bertazzoni.

5 showrooms. One day. Endless inspiration in Milano. 🇮🇹

Episode 66 of Design Discussions with Nadine Gol brings you an organized, experienced, and incredibly responsive interior designer: Meredith Boudousquie of Boudousquie Interiors.

I had the opportunity to collaborate with Meredith on our Hedgedale project, and everything went incredibly smoothly—largely because of her organization, communication, and responsiveness throughout the entire project.

In this episode, we talk about Meredith’s experience, how she got started in interior design, the challenges designers face on a daily basis, and plenty of other behind-the-scenes topics.

And Meredith’s horror story? That’s one you definitely don’t want to miss.

Air leaks are easiest to find on extremely hot or cold days, when the temperature difference between indoors and outdoors makes them much more noticeable.

About a week ago, I went on a quick air-leak hunting expedition around the house. Here’s Part 1—finding the leaks.

In Part 2, I’ll show you how we fix them.

Throwback to Milano Design Week 2023, when we first saw this incredibly innovative bathtub that completely eliminates visible fixtures.

All of the plumbing is hidden beneath the tub, creating one of the cleanest and most seamless looks possible.

A big thank you to my great friends at for making sure I didn’t miss this absolutely stunning marble tub!
